India is known for Vishva Guru because of Buddha. Edwin Arnold says the Buddha is “The light of Asia”. In western world India is known for the land of Buddha because he is the historical person who never claimed himself as a god nor proclaimed to have divine power.

Even heard of the debate between mandana mishra ( Buddhism mimansa follower) and shankaracharya? If not, you must read about it. Not denying the knowledge or glory of Buddha but your comment sounds so biased.

@@thedentico Buddha was a legendary social activist, ardent revivalist and chaplain of compassion. From Him, people learn the true humanity. His Dhamma unites people into human entity regardless of their belief, creed, race and caste. What kind of bias statement I made in my previous comment? Elaborate please

Your very first statement. How can you give the credit or bharat being vishwaguru just to Buddha? I respect him and his teachings but there were many more brilliant Vidwaans. What do you think? Why did I give you the example of Shankaracharya ji? Just to tell you that idealing one person is alright but it doesn't mean that there was no man greater than him. The world is inclining towards Advaita Siddhanta. Even a popular disciple of Buddha left Buddhism after that. There's no limit of knowledge. That's why, there's always someone who knows a lot more than previous one. Bharat has a lot more Vidwaans, brave kings and leaders who made it Vishwaguru. ​@@sonam0007
