That 1st game was absolutely fantastic. A masterclass in how to play from behind as a Terran. I thought Maru was for sure going to lose. That was one of the best game I've ever seen. Go Maru! its interesting to watch these top 5 zergs in the world play against terran now after raven nerf. really nail biting stuff, so many times i felt soo had it and probably should have. maru is still just amazing though. one of the most entertaining series i have seen in sc2. i love how it just seems to keep getting better and better. i feel like maru will lose to a zerg once gsl resumes.

Far2ManyDrugs TvZ has always been the most entertaining matchup in SC history. I agree that Maru is showing weakness in this series - his branded 2 tank bio push seems to be no long effective anymore. It's not surprising since it's only a variant of a 'ancient' build backed by superior macro and micro. I would say Maru barely wins. His late game terran units micro was of course a big contributing factor, but I think most importantly it was Soo who lost, instead of Maru wins. Soo isn't known for his late game, in fact he has the worst zerg late game among top zergs. Had Dark being in this series against Maru, I think it'd make much difference.

李智勇Justin Bairan ikr. Soo is such a great zerg in early game, brilliant at catching timing and battle execution. But late game zerg isn't about that. Late game zerg is about zoning, unit trade and transactions. Soo isn't even competent (at his level of course) as a top zerg in those areas of gameplay. It hurts to watch him play these days because literally every opponent of his exploits these, and that's why he tanked recently. If this continues I think he's gonna retire... Sad.

I've been waiting for the round of 16 to start for so long and it felt like we haven't seen Maru play in 2 weeks and it showed in game 2 and 3 I wondered if he took a break from playing because he didn't look Godly like he did in the last rounds. Taking a break from starcraft can be huge difference in skill level. if I don't play for a few days timing gets all thrown off

How different would game 1 have been if soO had built 2 spores per base instead of just 1? We're talking about a 125 mineral investment per base, to basically completely shut down Liberator-harass, not to mention prevent Ghost-nukes & help fight off drops. I know pro-gamers don't like overinvesting in static defense but goddamn, just build a little bit more!!

In the last game once Maru had killed all the drones he could no longer use, since soo could not create any air units to kill the buildings. So at worst it would be a draw and they had to repeat the game, or he could win. It is very rare you see that in a pro game.
