I am almost 92 years old and I have been enjoying you beautiful people ever since you left the police force in Seattle and set out to find a place just like you found to make the future for you and your family more like what I used to call normal. That was back in the 1950’s. That was when Father knows best was a lot more than a TV show. I am not only thoroughly entertained by your family, your blog but I appreciate the fact that you are willing to share it with me!!! Frankly speaking, I hope you make tons of money so you can go to Italy and Greece and take your family there. You guys ROCK!!! M

My immediate response when you mentioned people getting ugly about how you got your puppy really pushed my buttons. You are definitely nicer than me because I would have been ugly back. No one else is responsible for the choices you make, so to me it is none of their business what or why you make those choices. As an older adult, I do not really understand the concept that others 'have the right' to know or expect personal questions to be answered. I love that both of you are such strong adults, well grounded in who and what you believe that you are able to let it run off you. I 100% agree that your children are with you for such a short period of time, so spending that time with them is so important. You guys are inspiring and really are setting great examples for others who need to see this that making family first is not wrong

I agree 100%. I have raised and trained (protection training as well) German Shepherds for over 45 years now. As much as I support rescue for dogs, cats, etc, I would not rescue a German Shepherd for many of the same reasons Jeremy and Melissa said. I also live on a very rural acreage, and I NEED to know I can leave my dogs home and know all the other animals and people will be safe. If you rescue say a 4-year-old German Shepherd who unknowingly was abused or aggressive, you are putting your family at unnecessary risk. German Shepherds, much like Rotties and Pitbulls can be extremely aggressive, especially if they have been mistreated by previous owners. I always get my GSDs as pups, so they can be raised in my family, with our own rules, training, and boundaries. For those that attacked this wonderful couple for wanting to get a pup, well, I`ll just say "screw them".

@@flyinthebug35 my first thought when they bought from a breeder was..why spend a couple thousand when so many dogs need homes. I immediately realized that was not the best choice for them and their situation. You clearly articulated why they should not get a rescue dog.

Agree as well. When my last golden retriever passed, I thought maybe we'd try to adopt an older golden from a rescue. It was extremely hard to even find them in shelters (in my area at the time you pretty much only found pitbulls and chihuahuas). I did however find a shelter that specialized in goldens. When I saw the the adoption fee for a 12 year old golden retriever was $800, and they need to do a lengthy interview and inspection of your home, I just gave up on the idea of adoption.

Speaking about the parenting, our former pastor use to dedicate newborns like most churchs. But, when he would, he would give them a gift of two vases. One that is empty and one that has 940 marbles. Each week they are alive, you transfer one marble to the empty vase. He reminds them that you have 940 weeks to imprint on them until they turn 18 years old. It creates such a profound image.

And she does a great wrap-up without fail. I may be old but I have such an appreciation of parents who are actually parenting. I always wonder about naysayers and Karen’s. Were things not good for them when they were children; or are things not good for them now? It’s one or the other. Sad. But now they should know to find a way to change their life to feel happiness. It’s not too late!

@@PatriciaTennery negative people are just that negative ... whether its from jealousy, envy, bitterness from seeing other people doing better than they are ... the bottom line is no matter how bad your childhood was it is not an excuse to be a bad adult .... you can change your life, it may be difficult but you can become a positive person. Social media has sadly become a platform for bullying & many negative comments I have seen on various channels is a form of bullying that those people would probably not say face to face.

I just want to say Public school teaches kids it is ok to be bullied and teaches bullies that they can get away with it. My granddaughter was homeschooled from 5th grade on. At 17 she got her first job at a large grocery store chain. During her first year she was promoted and received 3 raises. Then a bully her age started calling her some horrendous names and harassing her. She found out he was targeting a certain group of women and young girls like herself. Nobody had reported him so she did. He was written up but again bullies are taught they are going to get away with it so he continued. He was then fired. My granddaughter had just arrived for work and on his way out he threatened her life. Still knowing not to provoke him and how to handle it she backed away and did not confront him and then once again told her managers what had just happened. The threat he made was serious enough that they called the police. The police escorted all the closers from the store to their car that night and have remained a strong presence at the store. They also went to speak to him and his parents at his home. If my granddaughter had gone to public school she would have become used to being bullied and not done anything. Instead she knew how to handle the situation and her coworkers were grateful for her help in getting rid of him. My husband and I are both prior military and have constantly taught our children and grandchildren how to react in certain situations and to always stay vigilant. Public school teaches kids to sit and wait for someone to tell them what to do. Being homeschooled my granddaughter had learned how to take control of a situation.

@@lacuna_matata_9261 the reality is that they CREATED their opportunity. They lived on one income, drove cash/paid for vehicles, saved/did side hustles, etc. ALL with the end game in mind. They WORKED TOGETHER to build momentum as quickly as possible and it still took 10+ years to accomplish the ability to make a change. They also built their vacation time around traveling to Idaho to look for land - did it over 2 or 3 years before the door opened for this 20 acres - so persevering, patient, steadfast in their vision/goals, and being willing to sacrifice in the relatively short term to achieve the long term goal...and if you go back and see their earliest videos, Jeremy wasn't a huge fan of them because they didn't make any money off of it for a very long time. But because Melissa was consistent in generating content by the time they reached Idaho and had a stunning location with huge goals - her work efforts had built a good base in the algorithms to make the jump to larger audiences, sponsors, etc. and before they knew it, Jeremy's lost income as a police officer had been replaced with KZbin/sponsor/merch sales, etc.

Dr. Wayne Dyer had a quote he used to present, "What you think of me is none of my business." It has to do with owning your own self value rather than making it dependent upon what others think of you. It may sound elitist, but it really isn't, it is more about appreciating your own uniqueness, and not degrading it by conforming to what others think about you and what you do. That being said, it is always appreciated when others express acceptance, love and gratitude because those are life supporting and engender a greater sense of community. These days with so many factions trying to create divisiveness, it is essential to be the best version of yourself you can be and build common unity (community) with those of like mind and spirit. Out of that long blurb, "be the best version of yourself" is the most important endeavor anyone can pursue. Thank you for what you do. It is thoughtful and appreciated by many.

Hi Melissa and Jeremy! I'm a fan of both of your channels and I'm really glad you had this Q&A today. I've had questions about your family and the lifestyle that you've chosen and you answered quite a few if those questions today. I'm a public school teacher, and I know that you have issues with public school and your huge advocates on homeschooling your kids. I'm not going to lie, sometimes I've thought that you're doing a disservice by keeping your kids at home. However, I think it's so wonderful how you educate your children and how you've taught them so many skills that they would never have learned in public schools. Teenagers nowadays are not taught many skills- whether it be at school OR at home- and they are not prepared for the world at all! Today you were questioning whether your kids were normal and I loved Jeremy's response that he wanted to raise exceptional kids, not normal ones. Let me reassure you that they are exceptional! God forbid anything should happen to the world, but if so, your kids would be survivors because of everything you've taught them. They are so self-sufficient and independent , yet so kind and giving children. You're raising valuable human beings and you really should give yourselves a pat on the back for doing such a great job!!!

Your children are respectful. That is all anyone can ask for. In today's world, it's a lot for any family. Parents have treat others the way they want to be treated.that a good guide line.your children are great. And I think matter where children grow up ,it to the mom, and dads to teach the children Some are great ,and others not .we all do our best.

@newworldoldsoul OH JOY!!! Yes, you absolutely have got to come to South Africa. I've been watching your content from the start (both channels), and live in South Africa (Bushveld = excellent safaris😉). It is an absolute extra-ordinary, breathtaking country. You'll make so many BeAuTiFuL memories here. God bless you and yours from from our house to yours.☘☕

What I don't understand you know the statistics and the crime rate in South Africa now but you encourage people to come to the country. My husband has a brother and his adult daughter still living there plus friends and he will not set foot in that country. In just the last year we were living there. My husband was held gun point, the ATM machine was blown up twice 1 block from our home, a man was murdered 1 block from our home, our nephew was held up and shot in the stomach and leg, my sister inlaw had her car stolen, another sister inlaw had in car stolen, a niece was tied up and her home was robbed, a man walked into our home and took a cell phone while I was vacuuming in the other room, and a friend shot a killed a man that fired a gun on him. We moved to the USA the next year. There's a lot of sugarcoating going on. People won't tell you the truth about the crime because the government is hiding it.

Very cool that you guys were willing to answer so many questions. I agree that you should never agree to meet a bunch of subs, as you never know who might have issues that could become an issue for you. No need to share your financial info with us, that is your personal business...but interesting to hear how KZbin works and pays. As for replies, you often love my comments and I am grateful to know you read them, but to take the time to reply to everyone would be impossible. Thanks for all the candor in this video. As always sending love from our acreage to yours. PS EVERYONE watching this, please sub to this great podcast as they are truly good and decent people.

Teamwork!! 💖💖 Last week, on a post about marriage, relationships and roles, I took a screenshot of a husband's comment, "I cook as good as my wife. We both cook and clean. Teamwork makes the Dream Work." Teamwork... That's you two, Melissa and Jeremy. You're definitely making your dream work. 🥰💞🥰

I've been a fan (suscribed 😁) since the early days in Washington. You have always inspired me with your passion for life, personal characters, how you love and interact with your children and your work ethic. Whatever you decide to do with your videos, podcast, etc., I will still watch because I know the content of it. P.s. I believe every couple should do a build or remodel together. If they make it through, they can handle pretty much whatever life throws at them. 😄

Wonderful broadcast! My Golden Retriever Chow mix lived to be 13 and I loved her dearly. I live within a mile of the Colorado River. She absolutely hated the river, any body of water, and getting a bath! You never can tell! 😂 your statement about your walk with the Lord was a blessing as I have always wondered. I am in full agreement and live the same way. I speak to the Lord off and on all day long and when you have the Holy Spirit you're walking with him 24/7. The fellowship is nice and supportive and fun if you find a fit. A close family I know who had five children we're moving from Huntington Beach to Oregon and going to start a church and their own radio station in the boonies. Unfortunately their lives took a different turn and it didn't happen but that's always a consideration, especially if you're going to have a lot of channels. That is something you could pray about to find out if it was the Lord's will for you to do something like that. Your personal lives are a Godly example and many lose their way in marriages. Baptism is not necessary for salvation. Jesus came in place of the Law, salvation is unconditional. It is a symbol of washing off your old life and coming up clean into the new with Him and done with wtnesses of like belief in His Joy.... Excellent discusdion of homeschooling! Most who don't homeschool don't get to see the incredible results you made a great comment, you don't want them just to get through school, you want them to be exceptional. And yes, their behavior is a mirror of your own. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Love you guys, started watching right from the beginning of the tiny house build in the barn. Haven't managed to watch all of these podcasts, but will go back and watch them all as you do great job. Anyway, have just registered the Bigfoot light fixture behind Jeremy. What do you think about Bigfoot? I've recently come across a series of interviews on a channel (that apparently are from a documentary ), called "A Flash of Beauty " Very interesting, I now believe Bigfoot is a real thing. Just wondered your thoughts?

Oh! You tugged on my heartstrings so strongly with your memories Melissa! I used to do the EXACT same thing with my kids in the morning (including the saggy tank top, the chocolate milk, and messy bun falling off one side of my head!) I miss those days, but I was reminded recently that they are never gone because your kids share the memories. When the boys were really little we had a “code” I’d squeeze their hands three times to say I love you and they’d squeeze back three times. We kind of stopped doing it once they got older and switched to the teen aged “love you mom” sort of things. My son was in the hospital recently to have his appendix removed and had complications. As he began to mend, he asked if I’d walk around the hospital ward with him to help him recover. I’d been in that bedside chair for two weeks at that point, and jumped at the chance ( and blessing!) to be able to finally walk a bit with him. As we began making our “rounds”, my 6’1” 20 year old boy grabbed my hand and held it tightly the entire time. Around and around the hospital floor, he greeted and acknowledged all the nurses and doctors as we passed. We’d gotten about half way down the hall when he squeezed my hand three times. The relief that he was going to be ok and the silent I Love You, that I didn’t realize he’d even remembered, brought me a kind of joy that only a parent can feel. Thank you for bringing that memory back to the forefront of my mind ❤️

In my humble opinion; honesty, transparency and integrity highlight your channel’s over others! Your Faith shows through: As St. Francis said; Go out and preach the Gospel and sometimes use words! As a man of Faith, I see that in your videos! Kudos! Jeremy, as a huge 2A supporter, I am looking forward to seeing your “pew-pew” Range! God bless you guys and your continued success!

You're baptized, too. ❤ You're good. 1 Peter 3:21 ❤ I encourage you both to learn about Catholicism from authentic Catholic sources. Don't learn from anti-Catholic people. ❤ I can recommend sources any time. 😊 Just ask. I know you're sincere. Keep seeking. ❤ 🙏🏻 Praying for you!

I agree, Jeremy. The online social media and youtube world is designed to show the best of people. It has the ability to create comparitise (sp?) in yourself. This is an unintended result when I got off Facebook. I find I am more healthy becuase of it. I also agree - most people would not comment in such a critical way if they were face to face with the person they were critical of. Great Conversation that we watched our parents have when we would visit other families seems to be waneing (sp?) away and it makes me so sad. We have a whole generation that only knows how to communicate through social media.
