GSMTS, Feb 2024: Capitol Free-mo Cab Ride

That was so cool. How was that mounted and what camera did you use. I want to make up some type of car and mount a camera on it for different scales. Would be cool to put it on layout for shows are home layouts. Are you in a club. Thank you.

I'm active with NVMR - the Northern Virginia Model Railroad club, but they're a fixed-layout only place in Vienna. I've also been participating with Capitol Free-mo for a while, and it was their layout where I didn't most of the weekend. The camera car is simple: DJI Action 2 has a magnetic base, and most flat cars have a magnetic weight under the plastic deck. Some modern ones are less ferrous, but the older ones like the Athearn Blue Box have a weight that the magnet attracts and sticks with. Throw a good loco in behind, and off we go! Not sure I'd recommend it, the battery life isn't great and transfer times to an SD card are long, plus I fight overheating in the summer, but it is the rig I have and matches my other DJI cameras (at least for small stuff like that)

@@2Railz Thank you for all the info.I just started doing N-scale I was doing G but am starting sale all of it. G was just getting very expensive.
