Yep, nyc for yaaa.. You just gotta read the cars, watch the tires, watch how they position them selves within a lane.. Thats what I do. Sometimes moving fast is the only way to stay "Safe".. but dont quote me lol.

Try it. You'll feel the natural movement within the bike, helps to prevent speed wobbles and abrupt movement from unleveled pavement. Placing you're hands further out allows for more leverage as well when counter steering etc. You're not supposed to be choking the grips either, stay loose, use your knees and core to support your body.
