Why do so many people continue to shuffle their hands around wheels? It's a terrible habit.

Because people who don't have race seats in their cars have nothing holding their upper body, you need to brace yourself with the wheel, hard to do that when your arms are crossed. It's one of the reasons I'm getting a race seat installed in my R this winter. Once the upper body and head are supported (if necessary) the arms can focus 100% on just steering the car.

Yeah, it's also because getting proper leverage when you're sliding around, becomes pretty difficult. Some cars just don't have enough steering ratio either, so a bit of a shuffle is necessary. In a proper seat, with a good steering box, all gets better.

Adam Harris wouldn't it be easier to just add the Watson roll bar and a set of harnesses? I have an R (hr912) and that's what I will be doing. I've used this setup in a standard 350 and had no issues.

I have the Watson 4 point bar and Schroth harnesses installed. I have for some time and it's true, the do help a lot (which is why I installed them), but a racing seat really is the only way to free up your arms 100%. I was at a track day Saturday at The Ridge and my instructor was telling me you want to set it up where you can drive the car using just your fingertips under full G load, that way you can really feel what the steering is telling you at the limit.
