@STATUS DETAIL Quick question Status Detailer: If you see tar being built up but don't need a full car wash initself, should you just wait for the next car wash to remove some of the tar? Or can you use tar remover straight onto the car and remove it w/ a microfiber towel?

@Eric H if the tar is fresh and not really bad then I'd shttar remover on it and let it dwell then pressure wash off. It should be a touchless process. If it's thick big pieces then it's more difficult and you may need to wctutget in and start touching things. In general try and remove sooner than later and don't skip steps. So do the wash if you can. Or wash the bad spots then full wash when you have time I hope that made sense

I just came across this video cause I was looking for detailing videos so I can learn more about washing cars and taking care of them especially since I got a new car aswell and I'm getting into detailing paint correction and this was the perfect thing I've seen. The attention to detail and the fact that you can tell you really enjoy doing this and making everything perfect by even washing the car two times and not just half doing something. pretty surprised by how underrated this channel is I will definitely be buying some products from your website. Ps -I'm not sure what the solution you used at @19:57 with the brush also when putting the ceramic coating at @18:14 im not sure If you have to wait like 10 minutes or if you can just wipe it off right away?

I believe your talking about gyeon leather cleaner and you will wait some time before removal with ceramic but it depends on temp and humidity. The second coating the topper goes on and comes off quicker tho. Glad you found the channel! You might enjoy the maintenance detail videos 🙂👍

randomly came across your channel and within 1 min of ur ppf install i can tell you guys know ur stuff! i personally love to bulk install my ppf aswell. i feel like i spend waaaay more time trying to line up precuts than just simply bulk and get everything nice and tucked. with nothing visible. also loved the part where u said neither approach is right or wrong just what you want to get out of it. durability or aesthetic. keep up the good work guys. always nice to see shops doing proper work! do you use gel or is it soap and water? cause only thing i saw u guys do that i was a bit iffy on was stretching the quarter panel after having already squeegeed a bit of it. this can risk getting a glue line.... so im wondering can u do this bc stek doesnt get glue lines or is it the solution ur using that allows you to do this?

Love comments like this from guys that know the business and appreciate the work! You can definitely get glue lines with Stek. My installer is better than me and does voodoo witchcraft stuff that I'm not capable of yet that rear fender quarter had zero marks lines etc In it. Stek definitely gets glue lines fastif you pull it up to go for dirt for example. So you gotta catch it fast. It's tricky because if you squeegee light you can back easier but you get a weird bubble thing happen as PPF like airs out. If you push hard you get no issues but going back is hard. So you go for hard pressure and triple check dirt early! That was jj soap and water. I have my solution pretty dialed in! That took a lot of time and wasted material. I also have carpro gel I will try out soon!

Nice job! You would really benifit from a plotter! even just extended hybrid kits would help install a lot and save a ton of material ! Core has this whole car in their system! Diving into a GT4RS next week, fun cars to film!

I've definitely heard of core and can definitely see in some cars you have a advantage plotting sometimes. But you often need to stretch film a certain way in my experience and chatting with other installers. Having the extra material to stretch and tack to get it to fit into place has been crucial for really clean installs. But as I mentioned I see the helpful nature of plotting in certain situations. Appreciate you commenting and watching 🙂👍

@imdabl my first ever PPF solo install was a lotus Evora roof. I tried multiple times and was so mad and disappointed I couldn't do it. I had some solution issues that didn't help. Months later a guy who is extremely seasoned and knows how to do PPF did a Evora roof on his insta story. He tried to precut it once or twice. Said it was impossible lol. Then I think it was 2 trys bulk and then got it on second try. I asked him about it and he said if I was able to do that on my first try I would be like the myth in the ppf bible. Like the real life neo lolol. So I feel a lot better knowing I tried something tremendously hard and knowing that bulk is just necessary often. I basically only do exotic cars so most of them require some goofy angles. My PPF guy later on helped me install that roof like a month later on first try. It's eye opening learning and seeing a great installer do it easily. While I almost burned the shop down by my like 5th try lol.

kits have their place for sure, i do about 50/50 bulk and kits. the vast majority the work i do are full car 458/F12s, R8s, mclaren, porsche RS cars and i am always bulking hoods roofs and the entire cars on 458/F12 and R8 since patterns are old and fit terribly. we do have a guy come out to 3D scan for more rare cars like singer porsche, ferrari 250 and that helps a ton when it comes to precision seems that are absolutely invisible. Kits are nice but at the end of the day i prefer a custom bulk job ! Keep up the work my guy you’re killing it ! not too many of us bespoke installers in the industry,, getting saturated with poor installs so we gotta keep the standards high!

You would be shocked how things go down in a dealership. Many dealerships do a pretty good job. But most of the issues we see in new cars actually come from manufacturing and have nothing to do with dealer. But I've seen supercar dealers do really bad wash practices in person while walking around or getting a tour.

Really enjoy your videos. I've learned a lot. I tried Hyde's on the rotors and it was like 50% better. Then used Vinegar and that removed all the surface rust. It seems like driving the car and using the brakes will introduce that particulate back onto the wheels which you then have to remove introducing scratches that you so painstakingly tried to avoid. Curious on your thoughts.

I responded in depth to this in a different comment I'll probably never find haha. Fast version. The back of the rotor and inside vented part will still rust and have water in it. When you drive away it still goes all over. The rust stopper stuff only helps on the face of the rotor basically giving the illusion that you're doing something. That's another reason we did hydro or wetcoat. Do your fast drive. Very small amount of junk will end up in barrel. Use a nice microfiber and shoot quick detail in it. Or if your really concerned spray a ik foamer Into microfiber for extra lubricant. One fast wipe and because it has hydro or wetcoat it will clean up beautifully. I'll try and show that today when I film this gt3 touring detail 👍👍 If you want "perfect" wheels it takes that last step.

It blows my mind that the paint looked like that upon delivery. Especially for what it costs. I HATE to say this but the paint on my recent new truck purchase looks leaps and bounds better than this and it's a fraction of the cost. Not sure if the dealer did a good detail job but the paint looks great so far (to the point I'm afraid of my first attempt to detail it coming in the future!) Great job. Love your attention to detail. Your right you make it look easy and it’s not. I just got my car back from being repainted and it had a ton of swirl marks all over. I showed a friend and he said take it back to get repainted. I had to paint correct it. It took a couple of days and what a difference. Ceramic coated, hydrophobic coated paint , wheels and calipers. People see my 16 year old Black 6:43 G35 and think it’s new. I’ve detailed for years as a hobby. It’s therapeutic. I noticed you used Gtechnic. I like it too.

I gotta be honest - you got your reputation honest and the attention to detail you exhibit is second to none. I do a wheels-off detail on my Viper and try to get everything the eyes see. The paint flaws you highlight look atrocious when magnified but I guarantee 95% of people would never notice. That is precisely what makes you exceptional.

Amazing, at this level of ocd those brake rotors are killing me. Not hard to treat the rotors. No I'm not talking about the surface of the rotors but the rust you can see in the drilled portion. Just pull rims off for cleaning its amazing what you find under there. Congratulations on your success. 🙌

I work for the best and fastest manufacturer of EV’s. I used to detail cars at dealerships so I understand how those come out. They just want them out and what the customer does not see goes. Taking the wheels off always is a way better way to clean that section! Great job but I would of painted the rotors, each dimple with a small brush & the edge surface then applied the brakes. Would get rid of all that surface rust you missed!

Count yourself lucky with the condition of that paint. Picked up my brand new GT4 in the same colour in Dec. Paint defects (blistering) on bumper, rear wing, door sill - all plastic parts. A tiny bit of paint even flew off while machine polishing!! Straight back to dealer who repainted affected areas. I’ve now re-polished the whole car and protected with CSL and two coats of EXO. Hopefully get first proper drive this weekend after 2 months of ownership! I think a contactless wash after polishing is essential. Amazed to see some detailers simply IPA and then coat!

Came across your videos a few weeks ago and I must say you have earned my respect. Honestly don’t know if I’ve ever met someone who knows their stuff as much as you do. Just wondering, what’s the difference between a one step and a two step paint correction? I’m getting ready to detail my grandfathers 85’ 380sl that has been sitting in a garage for the past 20+ years. Also any major tips to keep in mind for a barn find detail? Been watching a bunch of videos to learn how to go about it without hurting the paint etc… Keep it up my man, I’ll definitely be watching all the videos to come!!

Thanks for the kind words 🙂🙂 If we go by the book. A one step is a literal one step correction. Take a polisher. A polish or compound with a pad and Polish each panel for a medium amount of time. You will get results but maybe not perfection. A two stage would typically be a more aggressive first step like aggressive pad and compound. Followed by a less aggressive step. Medium cut pad and Polish. This usually gives great results but is much more time. Now if you want to go off book and in the rabbit hole .... A single step listed above could involve multiple stages. Let's call a stage of Polish 5 minutes for a hood. We could easily do that 3-4 times. Then do that on every panel ... Still a "one step" ? Hard to call it that. A 2 step process could have 8 or 9 or more stages. A 3 step would involve a jeweling polish that follows that medium polish. Now we are talking big time investments! In today's modern terms I think a true one step is when you see a medium cut product with built-in protection. Usually 6 months. You work it literally in one step. One stage. So it's fast. The product corrects but then breaks down into a semi strong sealant protection layer. Helps detailers make money and first time diyers jump into a approachable correction. I see products like this as a bit of a abomination lololol. Anyways. I hope that helps or perhaps confused you more? Correction is one of my passions. I'm just not sure I always explain it and it's complexities well!

They’re more like holograms not sanding marks. But pretty much everything you said in this video is legit. A lot of people just don’t have the eyes to see through these details. All new cars in my experience have all defects from the factory. Great vid 🤙🏻

It started as sanding marks. Then they removed it and didn't fully remove it perfectly. So we call them sanding marks because other areas have swirls that are just normal swirls.
