GT500 gets brake upgrade! | Powerstop Z26 extreme brake pads

Although theGT500 comes from the factory with Brembo brakes, there's plenty of room for improvement. The stock brakes have a lot of pedal fade as well as leave a TON of brake dust on your wheels. These new powerstop Z26 extreme brake pads not only bite harder, have less pedal fade but they also have a low dust formula. Definitely an upgrade I recommend 👌

I've used the Extreme Z26 pads on my previous 2013 Boss 302 and now my 2011 Shelby GT500 and very happy with their performance. On the Shelby, I also installed the Power Stop slotted and drilled rotors (rears only so far). I tracked the Boss 302 and the brakes performed excellent (replaced only the pads).

On my 87 LX i have sloted rotors and hawk blue pads with braided lines and went to a larger pistion. Works great!

I had a 88 LX with a 03/04 cobra brembo brake conversion with braided that worked really well. Love the foxes!

Just got these for my 435i after using them on my ISF (tracked my ISF on them and they were great with good fluid) … these are sooooo cheap on Rockauto think I paid $50 for the 435i for Z26 pads

Ford has that odd tool, i have found a C Clamp with nylon channel locks works well, tighten the c clamp then give the plunger a slight twist, takes a couple minutes but works fine, just protect the plunger from steel teeth and take your time. I used the Powerstop Extremes with their slotted drilled rotors on my Ram Power Wagon that weighs 8,000lbs and love it compared OEM

Less dust is a great benefit but how is the performance compared to brembo’s? Cold bite, stopping power, pedal feel and heat resistance?

I just bought a Shelby. And for a second I thought my suspension has been replaced because I didn’t see Brembos in the back. Lol… it’s kinda cheap of Ford to low ball on the calipers like that. الحمدُِلله

Brembo pads should be better then that. Its a big name in braking systems. Try using a small piece of wood and a C-Clamp to push in the piston....

Only the front calipers are Brembo. The rears are stock Ford and required a piston compression tool to turn them in
