The game already is impressing on PS3 (bought it nearly on launch day). First time I looked at the graphics it impressed me more than any other game, like if it was preview of current gen on old gen. Only Uncharted 2 had the same impact on me, along with MGS4 and Red Dead Redemption (when they were released).

Just shows you that you don't have to throw all the sliders to the right, some of these settings you won't notice the difference between max or one/two notches down, especially not on the move. Geforce guides are very good for getting optimal settings with no or little visual loss vs performance.

A beast rig is worth every penny just to play GTA V maxed out. This is the best graphics to date. Just beautiful . I use to wander around Los Santos even if I've done everything possible in the game I just enjoy the graphics and the scenery. Such an amazing work. Love this game by all my heart

Im so happy with my new PC after seeing this video! On my old pc GTA V used to run in 25 FPS with all graphics and resolution set to low. Now I get 75 FPS with Ultra graphics (not max). I really enjoy GTA V!!

I get that resolution determines how clear the image is, but why do the textures look like they're on low for the 1080p one? It's like you put everything on low settings for the 1080p footage and pumped it up to max for the 4k one, which makes no sense.

***** Nah i know exactly what you mean, i thought the same for a sec. , but if you go ingame now, and set to lets say 1600x900 res. you will see how "Shitty" the textures already look. If you go back to 1080p now you will notice that it isnt far away from like shown in the video. 4K looks beautiful, everything is crisp and clear, thats why 4k is the future.

***** 4K does not directly impact the textures though, just the clarity of the image. I get that maybe looking at 4k and then 1080p you may be like "damn that image was so nasty it made the textures look like shit" but the rest of the video was in 1080p and the textures looked fine. The clarity didn't seem much different anyway but for some reason the textures were just awful. There's no excuse for why the textures looked like they were from GTA 4 on consoles in that last comparison.

I'll tell you why. It's because they are playing on a 4K monitor with 1080p resolution. If they played on a 1080p monitor with 1080p resolution it would be the same as 4K resolution on a 4K monitor only a bit smaller

875yertgeyker875 Yes, you are *kind of* right. I mean, obviously, 4K resolution on a 4K monitor looks much better than 1080p resolution on a 1080p monitor. But what you are saying is actually true, if you own both a 1080p monitor and 768p monitor (both monitors where I tested this had a screen size of 19 inches, by the way), you'll notice that 768p resolution will look much better on the 768p monitor than it does on the 1080p one, despite both being the same size. But this doesn't explain why the textures looked so bad in the last comparison, because the rest of the video (which was probably recorded in 1080p as well) looked great. There is always the possibility that the rest of the video was recorded in 4K, but it is unlikely as their rig would probably not be powerful enough to run that with 8X MSAA at 60FPS, but you never know...

Very nice comparison. I'm kind of PC noob (just built a rig about three months ago) and there are things I still don't understand like MSAA, FXAA, Ambient Occlusion and such. Now I've seen this video and I can notice them on my PC. Good thing my PC handles this game very well, although I can't never get passed 60fps, unless I turn V-Sync Off and suffer from awful screen tearing.

That is because your monitor's refresh rate is probably lower than 60 or is 60 , what Vertical sync does is it limits your fps to your monitor's refresh rate, and games usually lag more when they go above 60 fps, unless you play Minecraft or Csgo then you can let your fps go to whatever, but usually it is 60 fps for the happy playable rate.

I keep vsync on. Make sure your monitor's refresh rate is 60hz like he said. vsync doesn't get me below 60fps, and it does solve my tearing issue. Make sure your settings are set to a 60hz monitor though. you can check in the desktop by right clicking and checking your monitor settings, and make sure you check in the display tab in game.

Pretty easy to distinguish, cus a 4k image is much clearer than a 1080p image no matter where it's being displayed. Whether it's on a 1080p display or a 4k display, which shows more details

Honestly it all depends on the texture resolution wether the more detail claim is true or not, you're probably not getting much out of it for detail if texture resolution is at 512x512 and below (you will however need less anti aliasing so it's at least a little less aliased).

In most cases, the High settings seems to be more than enough if your graphic card isn't that great or if you're aiming for fps + view. Though if you look closely, you can see that the other higher settings are an amplified version of High

Like you said, its 3 way sli. so no, the 980 Ti is not getting a good score in this game. GTA 5 is a game from 2013 and even 3 whole 980 TI's working together still can't max the game out. A single entry level RX 6600 XT wipes the floor with a 980Ti sli. Even a weak and very cheap RX 6500 XT can beat a single GTX 980 Ti. 980 TI was good years ago, but by today's standards it can't even match cheap entry level gpu's.

+Mark :3 ani filtering make little impact on performance is less than 2% in fps so in any game just put this setting at max because the difference is so small in performance and give a huge quality in visual.

+Adam Geiser Shadows are down to personal taste. Some people like em sharp as possible (Sharp setting). Some people like them soft (Softest setting). Some people want them simulated like real life (PCSS). Sharp just makes the shadows as sharp as possible. Softest just makes the edges more blurry. AMD and NVIDIA setting simulate what they would look like in real life.

Awesome video. I think I'm loosing my PC master race elitism. The difference between normal and high is pretty substantial, however from high to ultra seems pretty minor in most cases. I'm guessing many midrange GPUs can handle high settings while you have to have a top tier card to achieve ultra everything. (I have 4gb GTX 670, not sure what settings I played in last).

here's what I have off depth of field effects - its horrible it makes impossible to hit enemies in the distance extended distance - lags the game has no major advantages, there's a destructible fence line in the game and it still disappeared at the same distance regardless of the setting (this also seems like an engine bug to me because i've never seen anything like this in the previous gta games maybe my memory is scarce the fence line also spawns instantly when you are not focusing the camera on it) extended shadows - same as distance useless and barely noticeable anti aliasing - most people like this I don't, you get a huge performance impact and it still doesn't remove all edge aliasing even if you max it at ultra high resolution shadows - hugeeee fps impact with no actual difference in shadow quality soft shadows - I use nvidia pcss for this resolution/downscaling etc - pointless

And this is why I switched to PC gaming. The luxury of being able to switch your graphics settings for smoother gameplay will always top the luxury of having exclusives on console. . Anyways, I could get Emulators if I want to play exclusives. On console, every setting is maxed out in every game. So you can expect to be limited to regular fps limits. On pc you can turn some useless settings down and get double the Fps. This isnt throwing shots at console btw. Ive been a console player my whole life. I just chose to switch this year.
