+Champ JJ I don't know about you, but based on my knowledge an officer drives down the middle of a two lane one way when responding to something. So maybe he was thinking that and moved to the left when he heard the sirens to open up the middle. At least where I'm from that's how they respond to things. But I'm curious to know, do they follow California law and stuff since the game is based on California? Or rules and etc from a different department?

exactly. he didn't have to. Jeff asked for him causes he is on a stop, the guy clearly didn't know he could refuse since he was not the driver. On the other hand, a BOLO vehicle for drug trafficking may provide a different set of rules considering he could of been transporting then. I am not a cop in the slightest but thats my take on my experience of Jeff playing lspdfr, DOJ, and watching cops and other such things

I still dont think they can require the passenger's identification unless they have the passenger leave the vehicle and in the search of the vehicle find causation for further investigation of the passenger (like weed under the passenger's seat or something along that lines).

FYI, in the US, only the driver of a vehicle must show their ID and any proof of insurance. They are also responsible for any crimes committed in the vehicle. At no time does a passenger have to identify them self’s, even after being asked.

I'm not sure if this is what the guy was going for when he asked "do we have a reason?" @ 1:30 - but officers can ask for a "reason" or "circs" when directed to search for vehicles or people. For example, I would ask to know the reason the vehicle is wanted, could be violent crime/assault police/known to run etc. all handy to know if you're about to make a move. I ask every time. :)

About to have some fun: first things first, I do enjoy watching these videos and the content that's provided, but a few issues continue to arise. Situation with the arrest of the woman: unfortunately any defense attorney with a working knowledge of the law would get most of the charges dismissed against her. Reason being, you all questioned her without mirandizing her first. Recent conviction in San Fran was overturned due to detectives not properly advising of rights before any type of questioning. Once that happened, anything gained is inadmissible in court. Next is the search of the car. Although I do believe there was probable cause to stop and detain, there wasn't enough to search the vehicle at the house unless consent is given or just wait for the search warrant (which wouldn't have been hard to get based on the circumstances) and detain the woman. I personally think that would have been a good chance to role play that aspect. With that being said, the only charge that would stick would be her attempting to run after being detained, but since the arrest could be argued as unlawful then there's a distinct possibility that all charges against her are dismissed. *sidenote: I know it's just a game but if a criminal requests medical assistance and an officer says "yeah but you're gonna have to wait for me to call them..." :| yeah that case is done. Next is the traffic stop. Once again, rights weren't advised until after you guys questioned him so anything before then is inadmissible, and Jeff since you mentioned the jerrycan of weed in what would be argued as an illegally obtained piece of evidence due to an illegal search, Fruit of the poisonous tree, Mapp v Ohio, anything gained from his questioning would be inadmissible as well. And the only charge would be the car attempting to run Jeff over but that could be argued as well as an accident or its dark and a man with an ak is running after me, and you didn't know he was a plainclothes officer. Now all of this is based upon the assumption that the pilot didn't fully confess to everyone's involvement and that the detectives didn't reference the jerrycan from the illegal search in speaking with the pilot. Great episode, it's just unfortunate that the charges wouldn't stick even with the probable cause that was there for the stop/detainment. And I'm not even a lawyer I'm open for comments and suggestions about this, and I still enjoy this series and the content, make no mistake about it.

D'Juan Poole at the end of the day, it's a roleplay on GTAV. You can only get so realistic. If it bothers you to the extent of writing out a novel, then don't watch it. Besides, Jeff stopped mirandizing because it took too much time and was repetitive.

KZbin Google That's called entrapment, the suspects have to be the one's who engage the officer with the intent to commit an illegal activity first.... they could rev their engine and try to get them to do it on their own or do the three honks, but they can't directly challenge them. Unless it's just to race without arresting anyone.
