The glass breaking in Mafia might not be as bad as you think. Modern cars have tempered and reinforced glass to prevent shards flying off on an accident. But the old cars on Mafia would have had simple glass, so the shards would be bigger, and it would break easier. So, actually, both games perfectly depict how each glass break.

Yeah. Modern cars has tempered glass mostly. Reducing passengers injury to glass should it scatter. Older cars uses laminated glass. And for plastic bumper I think it's also because pedestrian safely and better crumple zones. Older cars may be made like a tank but interior impact will be much harsher in event of crash.

I still think that Mafia 2 is the best game in the Mafia Series. Although they didn't really make use of the Open World aspect since there really isn't much you can spend your money and only Main missions, no side missions. The details is amazing, and there's a PDF file of how they made it.

I like how in Mafia Definitive Edition they toned down the reaction of police seeing you holding a gun in the original they'd arrest you and put hand cuff on you but here just a ticket so you don't have to lose the cops if you pull a gun out by mistake
