But rockstar could do it without cancelling other games, the amount of content they djd for GTA Online for example.. that alone took the place of large scale dlcs for GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2's single player. But If it's to make a GTA San Andreas in a stylised way.. let's say.. like the fan made GTA San Andreas the definitive edition trailer made by the 80's guy.. like, ok, it's a trailer.. but the amount of accets there, put together by one single person, shows that this style of remaster (using a newer engine, of course) could be made without the same amount of time it would require for a GTA VI scale game. Really, they can re use a lot of stuff with some overhauls, double down on atmosphere stylization and even use the same voice acting style or even the same voices with some enhancements. Add in some challenges, some new easter eggs, restore the soundtrack to it's fullest.. this could easily be a 4/5 years job, If they take like 5% of the staff from a new main game, working with the people who does dlcs. Would be an easy trade. Since online content is cheap cash grab.

It is not look better. Especially in SA. Sun is not orange (it is white) and overbright so much. This is usual incorrect lights pseudo-beuty graphics become standard. Aside of nostalgia it would be awful. Classic lights off looks much more natural. Its just optional settings, not an improvement, not fixing. I hate it when mods (and sadly remasters) strip out creative aesthetic filters or other small nuances that nay not be inherently “realistic” in the name of trying to make the game look as photorealistic as possible. Like when you’re playing GTA IV and sometimes the game starts to look really grey and borderline black and white. Rockstar didn’t put that in there because it was vividly “realistic.” They did it because they know it artfully conveys a mood and feeling. And they always miss the point when that gets stripped away in the name of realism.

Changing the lightning was actually the best thing they could have ever done. I dont know why but when I played San Andreas on the PS2 it always felt like the gameplay was played at summertime and it made me enjoy it so much more. It feels so warm and just fits to the city. Same with Mercedes face, and fix the skin and reflection of the models. Like Lance Vance looks to dark. I think the skin just needs to show more facial features, lighting, and lines like the PS2 versions. I don’t mind that “cartoonish” look like how you see on loading screens or the cover arts from the box art but they could at least make it look like how GTA4 and GTA5 did, or even Bully.

Before CJs hair had this weird cutoff at the top near his forehead, smoke's face looked really heavily shadowed and Sweet's face looked too stretched. Honestly if they touch up the textures (tire smoke, dirty city roads, Elvis newspapers), fix up whatever they can of the gameplay (which I think they already fixed how quickly cars blew up on mobile), and just generally match the new game's models to the old game, just the feel, like weather effecting trees and stuff, and I wouldn't be mad anymore. I get they had to do something to keep the IP where they need it and keep it relevant, and the mod burning sucks, but at least they're updating it at all. This is a good step in the right direction. For sure.

About the point you made about not letting Rockstar get away with updating a three year old game and being obligated to fix the game right away: They did. Obviously due to the sheer scale of bugs and how messy everything was I am surprised they managed to get as much ironed out as they did. Them updating the game three years later shows that even though they did their due diligence they were not going to stop there and make sure that these incredible games will get the love they deserve. Plus at the time they would have probably been busy with finishing up GTA VI's development. Either way I feel like Rockstar deserves appreciation for not doing what many other studios would have done by half-assing their game.

Huh, I'm actually surprised this update's pretty satisfying as a whole. Doesn't excuse that this wasn't what we got 3 years ago but at least there's some progress here. The new run & gun mechanic seems to only apply to the player from what I'm seeing in the footage, which isn't a bad thing per se. I've played through the OG GTA3 with a "move while shooting" mod installed and I realized real quick that was a terrifyingly awful idea to implement in practice as virtually anyone with a shotgun, an AK47, or an M16 can easily mow me down. Here, this feels more balanced instead of a nightmare to play through.

Still upset they didnt fix the pants glitch in San Andreas, when you put on tall boots and pants the pants always change to 'gray pants' with no way to fix it

While it is nice to have the option for classic lighting, u think I actually prefer the standard lighting for San Andras. Gta3, the classic lighting is nice, tho. Vice city, im indifferent.

I agree. At least in Los Santos. I still own the original trilogy on Xbox and I was never overly fond of the heavy orange tint it had. Classic lighting adds more atmosphere to Venturas though.

The lighting update is great, just in time whilst I’m just coming to the end of my PC playthrough of San Andreas, the run and gun will also help me do the near the end mission in San Andreas where I need to obtain gang territory

This. These two glaring things that I want taken care of. I mean, c'mon, Rockstar, it's 2024. Nobody should have to redo the game from scratch anymore. Especially when you got games of the past decade that let you replay missions.

To a certain extent, this is cool that they did something better with it, but personally, before the update, the visuals were clear and not polluted with all the realistic visuals blinding you in certain situations. So honestly, I'd probably turn all that stuff off, keep the performance and graphics on the highest setting, and play the game without distracting visuals.

They basically turned it into the mobile Netflix version I played all three games on mobile using the Netflix version, and since launch, all three of them already had features like classic lighting and the Run N Gun feature, it's nice to see they've finally implemented them to the PC and console versions
