GTA London 1969 in 3D could have been done on the Playstation . They did it in The Italian Job game. Which was released 2½ years after GTA London 1969. It has you racing around 3D London and Turin doing various missions from the movie. The game featured representations of London and Turin that the player could also drive around freely within a sandbox mode, in a range of cars.

GTA London 1961 is still one of the hardest games i've ever played. It's only 6 missions, but you can't even beat one of them without frustrating yourself to death. Add the controls in this game to the unforgiven time limit, and it's enough to try to complete one mission 50, 100, 150, or 300 times over and over before you quit it or beat it.

When gaming companies consider what games they should remake, I feel games like this (which need remakes the most) should get remade. While I really enjoyed GTA: London, this isn't a game I can recommend to modern gamers who have no experience with the classic top down 2D GTA games. I would LOVE to see GTA London remade with modern GTA 3D graphics. Would be cool is they remade both GTA 1 and GTA London all together (since London is an expansion of GTA 1) in one package with modern day 3D graphics and modern GTA gameplay with expanded modern day story telling.

It always felt like Rockstar back in the 2D era planned to pump out a whole lot of expansions running on the same engine, but with maps based on various cities; and possibly only later sold in the countries where the city is located. Perhaps they just never had time, because back then they were always so quickly going from finishing one game to start working on another (2 years between GTA1 and GTA2, then 2 years until GTA3, then just 1 year and Vice City was out). It's kinda surprising they had time to even finish London in the meantime between 1 and 2.

I remember people buying GTA games on PS1 after playing GTA3 or Vice City at a friend's or cousin's house (when not everyone had a PS2 etc yet) and being really upset or pissed off that GTA on PS1 wasn't 3D. The closest you could get to 3D GTA on the PS1 was Driver 2. You could steal cars and walk around on foot, but not kill pedestrians or gun action at all. The graphics and framerate were horrible, even by contemporary standards. The game was too ambitious for the PS1 hardware, I think. The PS1 couldn't render 3D open worlds at all.
@Fromatic Жыл бұрын
@@MG-wk2eh Yeh if they bought the first ones expecting something like GTA 3 they were in for a big dissapointment 😄. I will share my story: it so happened that I did not play the first part of GTA, but I spent a lot of time in the London version. Among the interesting features I can identify the following: - the money counter can be broken, it will start spinning endlessly. Make a traffic jam on the road, drive aside and park very closely about 15 cars (after knocking out drivers from there) and blow up the first one. The chain reaction will not take long - they will explode in succession, and the counter will go off scale; - the golden tank breaks from shots, it is very short-lived, keep this in mind. In addition, his model is simply a scaled-up model of one of the cars that is also in the game (similar to the "Beetle"); - it is better not to bring a police car to the docks for resale - the owner will then say that he has gone out of business and you will not sell anything to him anymore; - the title theme of the game is recorded in such a way that the female vocalise go completely to the left channel, and the bass section - to the right channel (or vice versa). Try changing the sound balance in the player. Most of the music, apart from reggae, was written in one way or another by Italian composers Alessandroni (a childhood friend of Ennio Moricone) and Francesco De Masi, and are soundtracks for Italian movies of those times. The title GTA theme sounds in one of the films, accompanying the car chase.

I've always remembered London '61 as the GTA1 expansion, so I've always been confused to see London '69 as the one still talked about. I never realized that there were _two_ expansion packs, and just always assumed my memory from twenty years ago was wrong. I also wonder if London '69 launched at full price on the PS1, or if it was released at a cheaper price since it was really just an expansion. I recall a few years later that Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories released at only $20 new when they came out. They were absolutely full-length stand-alone games (VCS arguably being the best GTA game ever made), so I thought it was a bit odd at the time that they were priced at less than half of a normal new PS2 game at the time.

One thing you forgot to talk about is how in London 69 everything is divided by ten. In the original game if you hit a car you'll get one hundred points but in this you it would give you ten. You said only James Bond and I guess Austin Powers is James Bond parody but some of the cars you were driving is a reference to the movies. A working version of this game I know the pain. I got this mod that let's me play the GTA 1 and London games on modern systems but for some reason I can't get it to work. I heard if you download the game on their website it doesn't work after the first time playing since it turns one zero to a one at the original GTA. I don't know if they have London on their website. GTA 2 works just fine from their website and I think it's my favorite 2d era GTA game. P.S. I'm surprised you didn't mention the limited life systems and kill frenzy will give you an extra life. I also hate the ability not being able to save during a level on after completing it just like gta 1. Gta 2 you can save but it's $50,000 points but at least you can save. I forgot you don't have to do missions just cause chaos and when you get enough points you can go to the next level. I seen a Speedrun of GTA 2 and they get a car drive it in water get another car and hit the first car in the water to get a crap ton of points.

Chipped PS1, cheap games, hearing the rumours through the friends at school and seeing it in the playstation magazines. This era of games was revolutionary at the time, no censorship, just pure open world carnage. You have to remember that the majority of people played these GTA games without even doing the story, just to vent and go on a rampage. Try to find a tank and survive the max cops chase level as long as you could kinda vibe. I know one guy who fully completed GTA 1 and he was obsessed and lacking other games.

I just threw a little white square sticker over the rating and coloured it in with the union jack colours and the idiots at my school were dumb enough to let me install it hahahaha EDIT: as someone who was around in its era and bought both original gta and gta london I was not at all let down by london, infact I loved! Also I have finished original gta and london many times without cheats but again if youre a gamer kid my age when this came out youre gaming abilities are tuned to the way they were those days. Im aussie and i had no issue with the side of the road we drove on in either gta but games were different then and gamers played different. on the flipside I struggle to play new gen games these days and find myself constantly being destroyed by children lol but I bet I'd destroy them in older games hehe.. wow this was longer than ity was supposed to be.. nice vid
