CookiePLMonster To my amusement, it didn't work for me. However, I saw tons of other reports that it should. When I changed in-game language to German all it gave me was a different logo in the menu and nothing more, all blood stuff was still there. Earlier, to trigger these restrictions , I changed clock format to German, lol.

@@NationalPepper Did you know a millisecond before the last vehicle rock and sound with a prostitute if you drive a little forward and backwards and wait it will start all over again? I found this out when the game first came out. Apparently if you do this enough you will enable a bug where the prostitute will follow you around everywhere on foot. Not by car. It's been forever since playing with this bug but it can be fun. Other than getting two prostitutes in your car at once. You have to time the two starting the animation at the same time or else the second one will walk away once the other enters

Loved your video hehe. As a French kid, I grew up playing a PS2 german copy of the game. Funnily enough, a few years later, I bought the PC retail version via Amazon France, and the delivered copies turned out to be uncut versions. Liked the humor about the baguette haha, you do an amazing work !

GTA VC has the same thing. -cant kick people -no blood -shoot trough people -cut sounds and all these things. i installed a language mod for gta vc and that language replaced france. Then i watched your video and i changed the language to english, and everything came back. BTW in vc you can fix it by just changing in-game language in the settings.

Fun fact: On the PS2, if you changed your language or location to Germany in the console settings, the game will load the cut version instead and the load screens will display a different "GTA3" logo, instead of the normal "Grand Theft Auto III" one.

I live in Germany and remember the GTA III release on PS2. The cuts mentioned in the video had been done in a wise sense by Take2 themselves (today Rockstar North) to prevent a ban. There wasn't any real censorship by France or Germany. You could just select the english language in the PS2 system settings to play the uncut version. If you did that you could add the possibility to shoot limbs or heads off by entering some cheat code.

The last phone mission from D-Ice, where you have to get his brother and then beat 10 enemy gang members to death with a baseball bat as your only weapon, is an absolute joke in the censored version. You're essentially just standing in a corner, keeping your finger on the "hit" button, and it takes like five minutes longer for the mission to finish because every single opponent can take at least five hits, and after each one, they fall to the floor laying there for several seconds. It's pointless.

Im glad you mentioned the Australian version. Our cover is red with the sinper scope. On ps2 there is blood, and you can snipe peoples heads off but you can’t blow off limbs, there is even a cheat for the limbs but it doesn’t do much if anything. I could never fiqure out how to pick up a hooker in gta 3, maybe that explains alot if it was disabled in the Australian version

In the PC release, we Germans use the inofficial No-Disc-Patch, thats Included the Uncut and all violence came back. GTA-VC & GTA-SA and Other Games got those Patches too.

Rockstar was so lazy with those ports. How the game is censored actually depends on every single language setting on Windows. Example: I live in Quebec, therefore I own a Canadian Multilingual keyboard. I had it set to French Canadian Multilingual Standard. It seems that for whatever reason just THAT was enough for the game to be censored. So I was stuck with the censored versions on Steam for years until I finally figured it out. Now I have it set to English Canadian Multilingual and I've never had any issues. Incredible. The fact that I had to do this despite not living in Europe is ridiculous. lol yeah I'm mad because I paid money for this

pc version in Australia was the uncut version , it was only the consoles that was cut, due to the pc version was the UK version the 2 disc have the 18 classification on the disc meaning the pc version australia got was same the UK version meaning its uncut, also as from late 2019 it is now in Australia it's now uncensored with the new rating it went from MA15+ to R18+

Fun fact: If you have a PAL PS2 (Not from France or Germany) and a PAL copy of the game (Same including australia) then just switch the system language to either French or German to activate the cenorship in the game (I don't know if it works with the Xbox version of the game)

From what I remember the severed limbs thing was a cheat code you would have to input, otherwise the ped would stay whole and just bleed everywhere. It was an intense gore cheat that would not give a confirmation when input.

I don't think it was mentionned in the video but in the french (and I believe german) version, when you stand in front of a car and the driver starts to horn out of patience, the player show his fist instead of giving the finger.

I think blowing off limbs with the launcher like you showed is banned in the Aussie version too as I've played hours of shooting people and stuff with the launcher and never had that happen once. You can still shoot heads off though

I thought the removal of limbs and heads was removed as a standard feature in all versions of GTA and only accessible via cheat? I definitely know that here in Australia dismemberment is unlocked via a cheat. The cool thing for us Aussies is that the PS2 classics versions on PS4 are the original unedited versions. I was sad when GTA3 was removed from shelves because I hadn't owned a copy at the time. I even dreamt of playing it after it was banned lol

Yo Vadim I found a beta mission from one of the old magazines I had on GTA SA, it was called "Menace", and was to take place after Los Sepulcros, since it says "one of the missions to unlock Reuniting The Families." All it says is it involved "having 3 Ballas' faces face down on the sidewalk" so I think you should really take a look at it please!

I left him sitting in the car on that grassy bit under the train tracks while I was doing something else and a random prostitute got in and the car started rocking lmao! Yeah I had the French version and to me no blood and all was normal haha, when I first saw North-American footage of GTAIII a few years later on YT I assumed it was just a gore mod or something like that. I don't know WHY the french version was censored tho, but maybe France and Germany had the same rating boards. Nowadays we have, just like most of Europe the PEGI system but Germany still has its own rating system called USK. That way, if something is censored in Germany, it aint in other european countries.

I thought the limb thing was only through a cheat code. I'm playing the PS4 port and I have to put in a cheat code for limbs to be able to fly off or shot off including the head (with a sniper). I have thé Américain version. Interestingly enough there's no message showing input it right. Maybe to avoid confirming it exists? I don't know.

Dunno if anyone actually sees this, but anyway. This version talk is interesting, as on PS2, there's no German or French version, as the product code is one and the same, SLES-50330, and the censorship can be toggled at will, though, if your console is set to German or French, censoring affects all in-game languages (also changes the title screen), not just German or French. Only the Australian copy is separate and its own thing, as it has different product code, SLES-50793. But that got me thinking, what if the same applies on the PC release as well, there's no German or French versions, but just one version overall like on PS2, and language just affects the censoring? That would be interesting to know. Plus, in the Finnish region, the game was released with both GTA III and Grand Theft Auto III on the cover, spine, disc label, manual and the map, but the game itself is still the very same all European (yes, even Germany and France) SLES-50330. I argue that on PS2 at least, there is ABSOLUTELY NOT separate German or French copies, as censoring can be toggled at will on and off with ANY COPY OF SLES-50330 GOTTEN FROM ANYWHERE, SINCE THE DATA IS THE EXACT SAME. Vice City is also interesting, as the SLES-51061 version of the game does the exact same type of censoring with languages (that doesn't change title screens) as III does. What makes this noteworthy as well is that this version of the game WAS ALSO ACTUALLY SOLD IN GERMANY LAND, and there, only Rampages get taken out, not any missions, and you can get 100% one objective point too early if your language is German/French for some reason - also on General European PC version this happens. You can also still see the Rampage success/fail message in German/French if you switch languages after picking one of those icons up, even in III. It is probably the SLES-51595 version of Vice City that's SPECIFIC TO GERMANY, which also removes those 2 missions along Rampages, they're all perfectly playable in German/French on my PS2 (SLES-51061) and PC copies. San Andreas, Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories are not censored at all when picking German on the General European versions of the game.

I find it funny because it was censored in my country for the xbox,ps2 and pc version but If I play the 10th anniversary edition or the definitive edition I can do the the things that were censored

In the early 2000s games were mysterious things apparently and lots of government censored alot of it, but in the 2010s it was way more normal so way less censorship... just think about the whole hot coffee san andreas stuff and how nowadays theres millions of sexual games lol

If your keyboard language is French or German, then you get a cut version. In theory, you should have uncut one.

use silentpatch with the 1.0 executable from myth or deviance to remove the censorship for the french german languages
