@@alejandrovaldez6551 i don't think so. High budget could land you something like a core 2 quad/extreme, 8gb ram and 8800/9800gtx or radeon 4870x2 and all that still wouldn't be sufficent. The PC port itself was bad from the start, and getting real 60 fps maxed out at least in 1080p was only reachable a decade later. And still required some tweaking to my knowledge.However, i played it through second time on ps 3 and trust me - that experience was way worse in all terms then initital walkthrough on c2d, 4gb ram and 8800gtx.

Oh yes. If I remember correctly, I had AMD Sempron something with 9400GT, and I ran the game on Windows XP. Even though it could run, the graphics were just so-so, as I had to decrease every graphic options to the ground.

I'm not sure if anyone in 2008 could run it as stable as it is in this video. I used to play it on a GeForce 9600 GT, getting no more than 20 variable FPS, with texture loading issues and at low resolution. I couldn't drive too fast because the game didn't have enough time to load the buildings and streets; sometimes I drove over empty spaces, navigating by following traffic lights and other floating cars. Still, I remember having an incredible time. Nowadays, I complain about everything, but back then, I played anything however I could, without complaining about anything, just enjoying myself.

It ran fine on my i7-920 and 9600 GT, although that was in 2013 so idk how many fixes there had been over the years. I later upgraded to a GTX 660 and while it ran it better it wasn't as big of a difference as in many other games

I think a lot about how people who didn’t experience it will never understand it. It goes beyond the peace of being younger, life simply asked less of you and there was less going on. Everyone, and I mean everyone was playing GTA IV. It was a common interest we all shared and we all enjoyed the privilege of being there to experience such a leap in technology and innovation. I miss it a lot.

I remember trying to download GTA IV from a site where one link was 100mb. After two days of downloading I gave up and went to the store to buy the game. The next two days I tried to run it to play at 15-20fps after all that agony. It was beautiful. Those times will never come back. Thanks for this video.

This brings me back so much. I remember for Christmas 2011 my mom bought me the GTA IV Complete Edition for PC, along with GTA 1, 2, III, VC and SA because she didn't know which one I wanted lol. I remember spending hours trying to get GTA IV to run on her Dell D620 work laptop (Core Duo, 2gb DDR2, Windows 7) and it would load one frame of the first mission then immediately crash. I was only 9 so I wasn't the brightest at realizing that that laptop would never run it no matter how hard I tried. I was obsessed with LCPD:FR back then too. SpeirsTheAmazingHD and Insanegaz were the ones I remember most fondly but there were tens of hundreds of other niche channels doing the same, even way back then. So I just had to live vicariously through those videos. Sort of the same thing I'm doing now that I'm always too busy IRL to sit down and play these games except for the odd 30 minute 5/6 star police rampage every few months. I did get to play GTA V in its golden ages of 2013-2017 though! Great video, look forward to more, esp. if they happen to be of this same format! :^)

I remember installing this game on the retail version it was a chore to install you had to go through so much trash with Microsoft games for windows and the worst offender was Securom DRM. But even with all that said I still love this game and have the original copy that released on PC on Dec 2, 2008 I turned into a beta tester that month.

I remember the day i bought a GTA IV. It was my birthday and my parents takes me to the local game store and bought me GTA IV. I was so happy because i was so hyped because i loved GTA series so much. I went home, put the disk into my PC and oh god the installation. Rockstar social club, Games for Windows - Live and suddenly Error. I tried again, error. I was so sad because i wanted this game so much. To this day i think it was a problem with my dvd rom, because i tried this on my friends computer and it worked. GTA IV still for me one of the greatest GTA games ever made.

For anyone who skipped gta 4 for some reason back then and recently bought on steam sale and struggling with FPS like me, make sure to use the DXVK mod! It makes the game run like butter as it should be. Rockstar moved on and never fixed this stuttering mess.

And, if you don't mind me asking, I do have the Steam emulator that everyone seems to be using, however with the Discord being locked for developers only, I'm unsure on how to get the content I need to install these older games. I'm running my Steam emulator on a Windows XP machine (for that authentic experience) so modern Steam refuses to work.
