I thought most PS5 games run at 30 fps medium to high settings thats still with dynamic resolutions dipping down to 900 even 720p and little to no Raytracing. I wouldn't even consider Path-Tracing on a PS5 Pro.

Ps4 pro was a definite upgrade in hardware but for most people that already owned an og ps4 just didn't buy the pro. It'll be the same with a ps5 pro. There hasn't been a huge leap in fidelity and performance and great graphics are mostly up to the software which varies greatly and also depends on the optimization of said software. 2 games different or equal in scale or graphical fidelity on the same engine won't even have the same raw performance(fps). Honestly I'd buy a ps5 pro just because I can lol.

A PC the same power as a PS5 and Xbox Series X during release could easily cost you twice to three times. All the "next gen" played better on consoles no doubt. I don't know about an xbox handheld tbh. Feels like it will cause issues either way. Either it's a psp/vita situation with seperate games and now they have to split their devteams over two seperate systems. With how long games take to make now this will probably cause big first party draughts on either system. OR it has to play everything the home console plays and if they force feature parity again they'll end up with the same issues they have now with Series S, possibly even worse.

I have fond memories of reading Nintendo Power during the late 80s early 90s. The Nes game reviews, interviews with celebs that played the Nes or Gameboy, the easy to understand tech articles on their game pak tech. I nerded out on reading the article on the Super Nes. The mag was a great read back in those days.

The games are still gonna be the same for both PS5 and pro. With PS4 as well the discs used to be branded with 4 only. It's just the pro will be more powerful, probably 20 more fps on most games.

Hearing Canadian Guy Eh getting namedropped in a GameRanx video, to me feels like an achievement! I don't see many people covering this but I have really been loving some of the playstation classics that have being ported to ps4/ps5 the ps2 era, they just added Jak & Daxter the Lost Frontier and I am desperately hoping to see the original standalone Daxter PSP game show up in the store as well as maybe the Secret Agent Clank PSP game as well as being hopeful of seeing all of the old Ratchet & Clank games be ported to new consoles.

Yup. If the PRO means real 4k 60fps locked then great. And if it offers 120fps 1440p...etc GREAT. Options are fine. PS5 can't run most games at 4k 60 locked. And some devs just don't optimize their engines so if a new refresh can brute force that then cool.

Yeah dude I feel like I’m going crazy hearing these comments. If you “haven’t scratched the surface” of what the ps5 can do, then why can’t we do 4K 60fps? Or 120 at any resolution? You don’t hear this argument from people who are upgrading from a 3090 to a 4090 for example, and that’s pretty much the same thing (although obviously the ps5 GPU not as powerful)

Look at Dragons Dogma. That game isn’t reaching a locked 60 fps on high end pcs. Tbh with raytracing most games aren’t holding at 60 on console. Unless they’re making the PS5 pro huge and expensive, it’s probably only going to be marginal gains that still won’t get any game pushing boundaries to 60 at 4K

I started a new game of Red Dead Redemption 2 on my PC for the 5th time, and I'm still in awe of how incredible it looks. A lot of new games that have been released just haven't kept up with the small details that I've seen promenant. If Rockstar needs to delay their game, then please do so because I don't remember going through issues of my first play through of GTA 5 or RDR2.

I skipped PS5 for a a Pro version (having a backlog on PS4 Pro made it a no brainer). Since then the itch to play Spiderman 2, Elden Ring etc is pretty real... but I dont see a point to buy old specs if a new is coming and I >might< be playing some games at 60fps 4k, hopefully

Kinda sad to see that we are kinda moving backwards in terms of pushing what video games are capable of. We shouldn’t be sacrificing frames for picture quality until consoles and developers are capable of producing a game that can have both. Till then frame rate will always be more preferred over picture quality in my opinion.

@@dougr8646 the hardware isn't shit for most games. As we've gotten better engines and consoles devs have refused to do any optimization, since they're no longer forced to by the system's specs.

The consoles launched with out of date hardware to begin with, an older gen AMD platform, where their RT specs were already significantly weaker, than say NVIDIAs at the time. Developers must find it frustrating having to keep reducing the quality to work smoothly on the weak console hardware. 30fps is a freakin slideshow and very hard to play after playing PC at 60 and above for many many years now

So many game reviews I’ve seen with the ppl saying “it ran fine on mine but I have “insert newest specs for a pc ranging to the price of rent for an apartment” while there are massive reports that lower specs can’t run it”

Devs being skeptical as to the purpose of the ps5 pro makes me feel like the difference in performance isn't anywhere near the leaks. Might cop it though if the price isn't ridiculous since I don't even have a regular ps5.

People who are hating on the ps5 pro clearly dont understand the point bc it doesnt apply to them (aka you already bought a ps5). I, just like many others, was put off by the messy release of the ps5 so i havent even considered buying one until the pro version comes out so i get the top of the line as recompense for waiting. Like much of you said, most of the releases that have come out until recently have been on both ps4/ps5 so having a ps4 is still more than viable to most of us---but the release of a pro version is a perfect catalyst to get us to make the switch to ps5. Another catalyst would be gta6, but since thats not coming out for another 1-2 years at least, it makes sense to drop the pro now, get a burst of sales, and then get another burst in sales when gta6 comes out

I'm a pc gamer now, but i also play ps5 for the exclusives. I'm building a whole new pc right now, and am about to get one of the 32 inch oled monitors to use for both pc and ps5. Although the ps5 pro is barely even an upgrade, I'm considering it only because GTA VI will be out soon and won't release on PC right away, so only way to play it will be PS5 for me. And I really want to see how the ps5 pro performs because I'll want the best experience for GTA VI I can get (hence the 32 4k oled monitor purchase).

I lost it when you stared directly into my soul and suddenly said "I never f***n' stop" after being so happy-go-lucky lol As for the PS5 Pro, Digital Foundry pointed out that all the upgrades are to the GPU, when most 30fps games are CPU limited. That might be why devs are so lukewarm on the upgrade. I'm on PC, but I'd like for everyone to get more CPU across the board so we can start getting more interesting gameplay again. More physics, more crowd simulation, more stuff I don't expect.
