Gtech Airram Repair - Airram turns off when you move handle or maybe doesn't run at all?

Gtech Airram - Does your Airram turn on and off as you flex the handle up and down? Does your airram not run even though the battery lights come on and you know its charged? Does your airram stop for no reason, then start up again when you press the button? See this video, cheap and easy repair!

My mom's Bissell AirRam (Model 1984) had a similar symptom. On hers, it turned out to be a loose solder joint on the negative side of the motor. The leads were wrapped around a contact blade, but because the solder wasn't bound to the contact, they were able to vibrate/slide away from the contact surface from inertia changes during use. A fresh blob of solder fixed it. Thank you for getting me in the neighborhood of the solution!

Thanks! I followed your instructions, although I soldered the broken wire, and my 10 year old gtech is up and running again. I’d asked electrical shop to mend it but they’d said way too fiddly and time consuming.

My one is showing no continiuity on both black and the grey wire, seems unlikely both wires would fail simultaniously. Unit shows all green battery lights when powered on, then lights immediately disappear. no power to the motor. Switch is fine, battery is fine. Any help would be much appreciated :)

Mmm - so you have power to the switch but you say no continuity - From the switch to the motor there is no other junction so there has to be a break. Where do you lose continuity, which points are you checking?

Got it, thanks for that, I should have checked closely where you specifically pointed to the continuity check points, having checked again I now actually have continuity on both wires but no power to the motor. The switch is definately okay and fairly sure the battery is too as it shows 4 solid green lights when operating the switch.
