it's interesting cause it's technically roles, but one is never 'imprisoned' in the usual limitations of roles. u don't run faster or slower from taking a rifle or a sentry, you just kill the enemies better it's very funk :] it gives a lot of freedom for a game that is all about not having freedom

GTFO is the greatest Coop shooter I have ever played and I say that with full confidence. I found the game randomly while looking through Steam and tried it with 3 of my highschool buddies back in 2021. All 3 of them bounced off after a few hours, but I never did. I instead researched and looked for videos or forum posts about the game because I was that enthralled by it. Then once I returned to it after the release of Rundown 7 with a new group of friends I truly fell in love. The game is so unique and different from everything else in its genre, but that is what makes it great. You cannot find anything like this and the brutal, unforgiving nature of the game makes every victory feel like a true accomplishment and the highs are unlike any other game I've played. Just like you, I also cannot leave the hole, but I don't really want to either. The complex always yearns for more.

Been playing since 2021, and GTFO really does get its hooks into you. I'm approaching 600 hours in the game and have only finished about 2/3rds of the levels. It's one of my favorites to get the squad together and suffer for a few hours. My only complaint about the game is 10 Chambers' approach to weapon balance. GTFO is probably one of the best examples of poor weapon balance in a game that I've ever seen, just nerf the popular weapons, buff the unpopular ones, then nerf the now-popular weapons when the next rundown rolls around. Sniper went from the best giant killer in the game to a distant third behind scattergun and burst cannon, for basically no reason. It's unfortunate that 10 Chambers is moving on to Den of Wolves, I wish they'd go back and hit GTFO with another balancing pass before leaving the game forever.

Glad someone shares my love for this game. It's not so much the difficulty that attracts me, but the design, atmosphere, sound, picture, story. Months later, when I'm not playing GTFO, I turn on the soundtrack from the game and experience the true emotion of immersion. Games can rarely do that.

Funnily a sentry outside a door is bad too. All this in the context that you have 4 people, solo runs don't count. If one leaves a sentry or two outside the room, u might kill a few but once the door breaks, like the video shows, all the enemies will attack at once. The better play is just leaving the door opened, enemies trickle in instead of shoving the whole wave and the sentry has time to stall it as well as your teammates that or u just close the door, put a mine on it, maybe foam it and then just see the whole wave die without even needing to put a sentry up
