As someone who was outright bullied by the teachers who constantly told me that I would never be successful, this show hit me so deeply. I earn a comfortable living today, I have a loving family but I guess there still is a big hole deep inside me since I didn't get to enjoy school and be a kid and do dumb goofy stuff instead for most of my school days I was depressed, scared and angry, took me great effort to actually learn to live in a civilized society because of my anger issues. The childhood would have been so much better if I had someone like Onizuka, this show is probably my favorite show of all time, even my wife saw me crying first time while watching this show. The world would be better with more onizuka like teachers. The name is perfect "GREAT TEACHER ONIZUKA" What a an absolutely great show

i found it so hard to start. i watched episode 1 with my homie. he looked at me like i was diddy and i never went back! hearing everyone praise it so highly draws me back but daaamn!

I think that the most interesting part of this anime is a mixture of simplicity, nonsense and wisdom in the Onizuka's character. His actions is felt like drop of fresh air in the bureaucratic school system. In consequence, many viewers perceive Onizuka like a bro. But bro who for some reason got intimate knowledge of the human soul and at the same time found a way to save a youth spontaneity and innocence.

GTO absolutely defined my taste in anime that I'm actually having trouble looking for another anime to watch. It's just so good that I can't help rewatching it all over again. Luckily, I'm still going through the manga (and Shonan Junai Gumi, of course), so I have so much to anticipate for. Onizuka and Tohru Fujisawa definitely changed my life.

I´m out on vacations due to the stress that I get from work, and Netflix just added this show in my area, I finished it in 4 days. I don´t know what it is, but this was just different to everything that I have ever seen. Watching it was totally worth it!!!

Great teacher onizuka taught me no matter how bad a situation you're in, you just keep giving your all to solve it, you might solve it or you might not but it doesn't matter. Onizuka was a pervert, brash, carefree yet still the role model we should all look up to, not for becoming successful or rich, but on how to generally look at life. Onizuka taught me how to be a man and how to become someone others look up.
