I had a similar experience, I went to my village with my cousins, I had Samsung M01, which was at that time, the second cheapest samsung phone available online and used to cost around 7.5k. And in my village, there is an area where the kaccha road is made of irregular shaped bricks, and such irregular spikes and bumps are there that walking barefoot is a tough thing. My phone fell on that road twice, one time with cover and other time without any cover, still just a very minor scratch on the body and on the tempered glass. But when I returned to my home in Delhi, my cousin's Lenovo phone fell on the footpath, and the whole display cracked and almost blacked out. And this doesn't end here, I got a new phone, and that Samsung M01 is being used by my mother. So another day my sister was using Google maps on this phone while she was outside with my mother, and she fell down while she was holding phone, and after the phone fell on road, my sister fell on it and this time the screen chipped/cracked in the bottom half. But surprisingly the screen still functions properly, senses every touch and no black regions. Samsung uses really good displays I guess.
