Live feedback. Oh my goodness my heart rate just increased significantly when someone told me the next GTR video went live. Racing against R-Lo and Mr. Darq, two of my favorite names in the community, is an honor and totally terrifying! Thanks to both of them for all the support they have offered to Spool Heads. Competing against them on this stage is really exciting! And we have another chance to take an Evo out of another tournament. What could be better!? One thing I’m watching is to see if Mr. Darq’s front loaded weight impacts how these races turn out. Race 1: NOOOOOOO!!! That drift by JA was shaping up to be awesome…. until it wasn’t. Wow Mr. Darq catches air on the scrambler! Race 2: NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Another DNF! I’m only two seconds into the race! Mr Darq on the pass!!!! Lucky to be only down by six? Race 3: YES!!!!! Oh my goodness this is incredible. Mr. Darq is really good but somehow JA holds him off on every attack. We’re back in this! Mr. Darq vs JA on this race was the best head to head battle I’ve seen in this tournament so far. Back and forth and neck and neck. Race 4: Whole cow Mr. Darq is fast. I’ve joked with him that he might be too fast for this track and I think it might be true. A little less speed through the scrambler would really help him. JA is lucky to have finished. Feels like he’s car is getting worn out. Halftime - Considering the two DNFs from JA, he’s fortunate to only be down from second place by three points. Not a great position to be in though. There’s always a chance to get lucky with the train. :) Race 5: I’d rather be lucky than good ;) My car just isn’t competing at a high level right now. Just so fortunate that Mr. Darq can’t keep control and R-Lo ran out of gas. I JUST REALIZED I IT THE 3 ON THE TRAIN TOO!!!!! So, so lucky!!!! Race 6: I think I’ve stopped breathing durning the races. I’m glad they aren’t any longer. Poor Mr. Darq. Sorry man. Race 7: Oh boy. Not sure I can watch….. Seriously was thinking half way through that I was going to finish last. Great pass going into the 180! Then the real strength of JA has been how consistent he’s been on the scrambler. Once again, that pays off. Mr. Darq, you have the fastest car in the tournament, but this just isn’t the right track for you. Please race that car again on another track!!! Race 8: This is my worst lane. I’m much better through the joker. Ahh… here we go! Pile up! Again, Mr. Darq is CRAZY FAST!!!! Race 8.5: JA did it!!!! YAY!!!!!!!! Can’t believe it. I had serious doubts after starting with two DNFs. Wow. What a group again. I’d like to congratulate Mr. Darq for setting another track record. He has the fastest time on the track and also holds the record for the most consecutive DNFs on the track at five. Not sure anyone is going to beat that record ;) Thanks again for inviting us all to be a part of your tournament. Please do this again soon!

Wow, take a look at this Elite 8: Audi, Subaru, Honda, VW, Ford (Escort), Mitsubishi, Mercedes, and Ford again (Mustang). I know the opening field of this tournament was rather varied but still I'm quite surprised there seems to not be a dominant model at this point. The top eight aren't seeing a slew of one type of car. Part of that may be that this _is_ the first modified tournament for the track and no one yet knows how to build for this specific course. Still, I find it even more thrilling to see it pan out this way!
@gravitythrottleracing2 жыл бұрын
Chris, me too! Personally, I can't wait to do a "lessons learned" video after this tournament ends. I really want to share what I've witnessed behind the scenes. There's a reason I called this tournament "Under Construction". There's more to it than just finishing my diorama. My hope is that by sharing what works and doesn't work it will spur competition to become even more tight!
@richardmorgan92732 жыл бұрын
This is such a complicated track with two different routes that I doubt any of the builders know what to build - you'd need access to the track itself and hours of testing.

Except there's no VW, but a Renault to complete the mix. But it's amazing to see 8 different vehicles in the top 8, shows competition is wide open here.

Another sweet race! (See what I did there?) Whenever a car or driver from my team (B.A.K.E. Racing) is out of a tournament, I always pick the car I think looks the best (meaning, for me, the most real-world style) to root for. So going forward I'll be pulling for Georgio in the first race and Boxer in the second - I could definitely see either of them appearing in a RL road rally. (Marco Polo and Lone Star are good too, just not quite as.) Really looking forward to the Elite Eight!

We all love the racing, but I remember when I unboxed each car. It blew me away how much detail went into some of them. I'm keenly aware the hours that some builders spent, so I want to give appropriate air time with close ups to highlight their craftsmanship.

What a fantastic father-son project! Keep it up!! I use 9 GoPro cameras, 5 GoPro 4s, 3 GoPro6s and 1 GoPro8. Sounds expensive I'm sure. I started in late 2020 with the 4s which I found pretty cheap. I wanted 4s because they record at 120fps at 1080p, but they dont have a rear screen. A friend sold me the 6s and I recently bought the 8 new. Having multiple camera is great for replays, but if you have only 1 camera you're still covering 90% of all the action. I made a "How I built my hotwheels track" video last year if you're interested. It's about building my first track.
