It just so happens that I can't afford no RX 580 back in 2017. To be honest I just upgrade my 1050ti this week to an RX580 and I'm already in awe of what I'm seeing!

This make me remember when RDR2 came out. RX 570 could run low-medium settings 60fps but 1060 couldn't achieve 60fps low. Of course, this was fixed through updates but it had a lot of memes about it. RX 570-590 aged better than 1060, but also the high wattage on 580-590 could be not worthy for a lot of people.

I completed RDR2 when it came out on my 470 and I was amazed of how good it ran considering the graphic quality. They did a great job with Vulkan. Pascal wasn't good with low level APIs. IIRC Vulkan performance was better than DX12 at lunch. DX12 gave lower performance and a lot of stutter.

Great video. Both graphics cards were legendary. I used the Radeon RX 580 8GB since 2018 and it worked very well for me until 2023. I play at 1080p 72Hz with Freesync. Although this year I upgraded to a Radeon RX 6650 XT.

The lack of true ASync Compute really shows on the 10 series as they are only driver based ASync with the use of preemption rather than Hardware based hence the lower performance on lower API's like Vulkan/DX12. Before anyone says it, yes the 10 series DOES support ASync Compute but only on driver level, not hardware level hence the FPS difference between the 1060 and 580 (580 has true hardware ASync). Sadly the 580 support will be non-existent in the future while the 10 series will still have driver support in the upcoming years. (might age like milk if they suddenly stopped the driver support for the 10 series also).

The RX580 is a slightly refined RX480 - I had that GPU from 2016 to 2022. It started off a bit slower than the GTX 1060 (which came out 3 months later), but then stuff like Vulkan and DX12 came out, and along with driver updates, got equal or a bit faster than it. And the RX580 was clocked 10% higher by default, so...

i got a superspecific new test, maybe here we guys can figure it out, so: What looks better: 1080p dlss quality vs 1440p dlss performance. So far as i can tell, 1080 gives u more fps but truly 1440p on performance is looking just a little better. but it is kinda hard to test. as i am not as good in seeing that stuff than many people.

With a balanced mV setting for more 12% frequency on core clock and more 10% frequency on the VRAM, you'd get some extra performance that might be worth if you can keep temps down to 80ºc and below. I don't recommend it as that demands high quality silicon, something which is sort of a lottery, you might get it or not in your card, it's random... The highly natively overclocked versions of the 580 were amazing, as well as the community bios mods...my card was generally booting up with 1415Mhz on the core clock, but holding up just fine till 1480+Mhz (+1/2mV). I had so much fun with this card, amazing gaming in 1080p and even decent scores in 1440p/FSR.

what i dont like from rx 580 is sometimes there's a bug kinda like a weird artifacts/ texture glitches when i play some demanding games like AC Valhalla, RDR 2, Death Stranding, CP77, etc and then it get freeze and reset my undervolt/overclock settings in AMD driver. My card running only between 58-64c when playing AAA games and should be no problems,, do u know why??

@@dutchvanderlinde4969 well it sounds like silicon quality. Maybe it can't sustain higher voltages or temps, or maybe the bios isn't helping with the OCs. It might also be your PSU that isn't handling well, depending on its real watts limit. That happened to me a few times when I was using the whole power limit and 1480+ MHz on the core clock, +1.5mV. Each card and case has its own limits, so we have to find and respect them or the hardware will die out. Finding what is the limitation is what will allow you have more stable OCs, but if I can recommend you something that I did for more performance, here I go: Get an RX5700 or better for cheap as F. whenever you find one. Same as an RTX 3060's performance for much less heat and power than the 580.

I love the RX580 8GB. I upgraded from its predecessor the HD7970 ghz edition (R9 280X) 3gb. Both cards were awesome in their time and lost driver support way too soon. Thank God for nemez drivers!

Is that a new build? That liquid cooler is great. The temperatures are much lower now. It reached the mid 70s before sometimes I think. Was it a tower cooler? If so it's crazy how much power they consume compared to Intel's previous gens at the same consumer level. As usual for more modern games RX 580 outperforms the GTX 1060 here. It'll be a shame when both stop getting up-to-date driver support.

Same i5 13600K PC I put together 10 months ago or so. It had a deepcool LT720 cooler that I took out to install on my 7950X3D, I use it for rendering and that cooler is slightly better. The i5 over here is being cooled by a lian li Galahad trinity II 240mm, it's a really good cooler as well

I didn’t use fsr before, because it wasn’t needed (on main PC), and I want to say that compared to the native resolution, fsr looks terrible, maybe it's because of cheap ips monitor.
