The caregiver here is showing so much compassion and is patient and loving to this bird......not sure though that the bird is getting exactly what it needs....my thoughts are that there seems to be clear communication from this amazing bird when it drops the fish twice, some may see this and think that something is wrong with the bird and wonder why it is blind to the food right in front of it, but watch the video closer and see the clear signs of its natural behavior as to how it would rather eat....the way in which it would eat in the wild. Please try putting the fish directly in that shallow water and allow it to fish for itself. Happier bird

Bill-clapping. I've seen other footage of the bird and he seems to greet his keeper by making that noise. Shoebills may look a lot like storks, but they are Pelicaniformes, and species of pelicans bill-clap as a courtship or greeting ritual.
