I can imagine the Emperor of Ming, asking the Malay envoy from Malacca for their favorite piece of music, and someone hastily wrote Rasa Sayang, translated it, and it become a great success... And this is how they played it in the Emperor's Palace!

Gasp! I'm Malaysian, and this is such a nice surprise! Thank you so much, Zhi De Guqin team! Oh, and you guys wearing Ming Dynasty Hanfu is a nice touch, because Ming Dynasty was the era when China formed meaningful ties with our Nan-yang nations (Brunei, Malaya and Indonesia). That is also when the first Chinese migrants had settled down here.

We learned this Maluku Province song at Elementary school. How nostalgic. Rasa sayange Rasa sayang sayange Lihat nona dari jauh rasa sayang sayange Rasa sayange Rasa sayang sayange Lihat nona dari jauh rasa sayang sayange (Pantun parts) (Sampiran) Kalau ada sumur di ladang Boleh kita menumpang mandi (Isi pantun) Kalau ada umur panjang Boleh kita berjumpa lagi The feeling of affection The feeling of affection The feeling of affection when seeing the young miss from afar The feeling of affection The feeling of affection The feeling of affection when seeing the young miss from afar (Rhyming poem parts) (Non-sensical rhyme part) If there is a well in the yard, let us use it to bathe. (Main message of the poem part) If we are given long enough lives, may we be destined to meet again.

Malay song? "Rasa Sayang" (pronounced [ˈrasa 'sajaŋ], literally "loving feeling") or "Rasa Sayange" is a folk song from the Indonesia source: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rasa_Sayang

First of all, thank you for this beautiful piece. Next, this is actually a folk song from maluku/moluccas island, in far Eastern part of indonesia. If any malay culture claim anything of sumatran malay culture, that was still acceptable, both malay culture was only really separated because colonialism. BUT, maluku/moluccas was never under malay influence. It's kinda funny modern malaysian claimed this song as their own. It was such a classic malaysian move to claim other cultures not from malay group as their own.

Just to clarify this, don't compare languages, Indonesian language is a descendant of Old Malay, which the language was first created by the Malays until the Malay population migrated all over Indonesia and Malaysia since ancient times. Both languages are descendants of the same language hence we can understand each other easily, nothing good to fight about it. The origin of the song, Malaysia and Indonesia were once the same nation, we split at some point, we are twins, its natural that we share cultures. We should not set boundaries on whos culture belongs to who. It's immature to claim each other's culture. What it means to be Malaysian? Malaysia is a country of cultures, majority of the things are not original, instead, Malaysia is a pub for cultures to thrive. Chinese cultures, Indian cultures, Malay cultures, indigenous cultures, etc. Calling it Malaysian means it is a recognised culture that has been displayed in a place where all cultures meet. Why tho? Becauae Malaysia is the largest trading zone for all continents, Arabians, Indians, Chinese, British, Portuguese, Japanese, etc. All of these countries once set foot in Malaysia for trade and to build a life, thats why there are so many races in Malaysia, unlike some other countries that ebolish cultures of another race if they want to stay in their land, Malaysia embraces the cultures of the race. We should not fight on something both countries share, we are twins, its only natural to have similar cultures, Gamelan Indonesia and Melayu, Batik Indo and Melayu, Wayang Kulit, etc. If the culture is being shared by both countries, kindly mention the other country as well. RASA SAYANG IS A WONDERFUL SONG, THANK YOU FOR SHARING A SONG FROM MALAYSIA AND INDONESIA!!! 🇲🇾🇮🇩

THIS SONG IS ORIGINALLY FROM TANAH MELAYU NOT MALUKU! 😅 fikir-fikirkanlah

Another great piece as usual, and thanks for your team's dedication and persistence and passion in creating one after another different musical styles/formalities using traditional Chinese instruments! I saw some comments criticizing the origination of this folk song (whether it's originated from Malaysia or Indonesia), I believe that Music and art pieces have no boundaries, why bother where it came from originally, when they offer joy and share humanity and promote Southeast Asia culture to the world?
