Only JC gives me goosebumps. The song is about (a girl) getting hurt in a relationship/a breakup, she deeply loves the person. In JC's interpretation, it's a monologue, she still loves the person, she could only comfort herself by saying that it is part of life/growth, but obviously that not what she truely wants.

李聖傑是那種技巧成熟，音色有好的歌手。周深的唱功了得，但音色太女性化。我更喜歡李聖傑這種男聲！南無阿彌陀佛！

Tia最後一段應該是完全沒伴奏了，無論現場或耳返。因為她說了一句「不管今天是不是『水逆』」，代表設備絕對出問題了。最後應該是徹底清唱沒錯了，強！

KZ is the philippine singer. and this song was originally by a hong kong singer... which was make famous by Tia Ray

A HK singer, JC’s song which was originally released in HK, was used later as an OST for a movie made in Mainland China. Tia was then invited to sing this OST. Tia is a singer in China so naturally much more familiar to audience in China whereas JC is a singer in HK so not much heard about in China. This is the story.

JC 的version 應該沒有幾多是因為修音修好。這歌的作曲作詞都是有名的音樂人，只是JC 是新人。Tia 在處理上也比較像原唱 (guess we cant say copy) JC 的音色比較多樣化，聲量大小的對比更能帶人進入歌曲。I feel we owe JC. She deserves more recognition ❤. She was only 20 and she is still singing in hk.

I heard JC's original first way earlier and it is so raw and powerful. I loved it. So Tia's later version didn't do much for me despite being skilled and very polished. Matter of preference I guess.

This song is interesting and touching mainly because the melody is written closely to the speaking tones of the lyrics, and the emotion underneath. Discussing about the song without studying the meanings of each lines of lyric, for this particular song, will miss the essens of it. It is not a summary of past loves, it is talking about the that “end is end” moment. Please help the vocal coach to understand the lyrics better and more precisely.

Of all the songs you picked to give an example of a successful cover overshadowing the original. I'm surprised you picked "Killing me softly" instead of "I Will Always Love You". I listen to oldie quite a lot, and so was familiar with Roberta Flak's original even though I heard Lauren Hill's version first, but It wasn't until many many years later when I looked up on the wiki of "I Will Always Love You" that I know it's a cover, and I listened to Dolly Parton's original, and I feel like the song is already Whitney's. but for "Killing Me Softly", I think it still kind of holds up, even if you are familiar with the cover first, unless you really just don't like oldies in general. Honestly, I think this song really is best sung by Tia, I really don't hear the uniqueness to the original you're saying, I appreciate the riffs she put into the song, but her singing felt very "meh". like it has. a lot of what the a song needs, but she's not making me want to really listen to the song. It sounds in a way "generic" , and maybe it's the vibe and all that you mentioned, but I mean that's kind of what separates a good singer right. I mean even when someone sings without being sings, and more speech like, it's all about the vibe, the ability to captivate your audience and make them want to listen to you.
