Thanks, Matt! It really was a gorgeous hike and a beautiful day to do it. The highest point in Texas did not disappoint, nor did the largest Buc-ees. Nothing else like it. Now off to Louisiana.

Just did this today and it was brutal. I can't imagine doing it with all the back and forth with the cameras. Kudos!
@MissionAmerica10 ай бұрын
Thanks! It is a challenging trail, but Jimmy is in great shape and has no problem with the extra climbing. I (Paula), on the other hand, make sure to stick to just the climbing that I have to do. It's definitely a good idea to do this trail in the cooler weather because the heat would make it so much harder. Do you have plans to do any other trails in the area?

I have officially added that Buc-ee’s to my bucket list ! Keep reaching for the stars! On the mountains, I will bow my life To the One who set me there In the valley, I will lift my eyes to the One who sees me there When I'm standing on the mountain, I didn't get there on my own When I'm walking through the valley I know I am not alone You're God of the hills and valleys Hills and valleys God of the hills and valleys And I am not alone

Just found your channel and am loving it! Beautiful vids of your hikes! Which month were you at Guadalupe? We went the end of February 2022 and it was just too windy & chilly for us to make it to the summit.
@MissionAmerica Жыл бұрын
Thanks! We did the hike in mid-February 2023. It was nice weather while we were hiking, but we knew strong winds were predicted for late afternoon. We made sure we were down before they started. Hope you get to go agin and have better weather. Thanks for watching!

I would never thought to bring snow/ice spikes in Texas. I hope you and Paula packed 2 lunches. One to eat going up and one to eat going down. I saw a Garmin created map on Earth Trekkers showing all the switchbacks, just amazing.

We always try to check out the latest info on the hikes on Alltrails to see what condition the trails are in and what equipment we will need. So we knew that there would likely be snow and ice. And yes, we took plenty of food with us. That is one thing we plan for as well- never going on a long hike without plenty of food and water.

Well done! Trekking poles would make it so much easier.

Thank you! We did have trekking poles and used them as much as needed. They definitely did help.

@MissionAmerica yeah, we took a group of pre-teens up once in June. It can be a warm day, but can get kind of cool further up the mountain to where you need a light jacket.

Hey Browns ! I have tried to comment on this video 2 other times, but it keeps disappearing. So I am going to try to do 2 or 3 shorter comment…… I loved this hike. It looked to be your most strenuous and longest time wise hike of the 2023 adventure.
@MissionAmerica Жыл бұрын
Hey Dan, we think you may be right about this hike being the longest and having the most elevation gain of any hike we've done this year. It was a beautiful hike and certainly worth the effort to get to the top.Thanks for watching and commenting!

What advice you recommend coming down? I'm super nervous of the steepness and loose rubble rock.
@MissionAmerica7 ай бұрын
We really didn't have too much trouble coming down except in the area where there was snow and ice, but trekking poles can be very helpful on steep downhills. And just take your time. It is a really nice trail with beautiful views. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Hey, thanks for watching! We are using the Osprey Duro 2.5L and the Osprey Dyna 2.5L backpacks. There are several different versions. We have the ones with the hip belt and the water reservoir. We love them. They are the best backpacks we have ever used. They are actually made for running, but are also perfect for longer hikes.

These are both Osprey backpacks. The men's is the Duro, and the women's is the Dyna. We love these packs. They have a place for everything you need for a day hike.
