So sorry to hear about Luna. She was so adorable and had such beautiful color. I wonder if it was just due to this extreme heat and she was so young it was too much for her. A lot of ranchers up here in Kansas are losing a lot of their cattle. I’m so glad y’all got to take vacation and enjoy some fun family time together! Dang it. I don't know why, but I had a feeling you were in my town on your vacation. I live in fort Walton Beach FL. That pier is where I tell anyone who visits to go out on at around 8-10am and you can watch huge pods of dolphins swimming by. Sometimes if there's a lot of fishing going on they steal the fishers catch.

Thanks for sharing some of your vacation with us! I grew up in northern Illinois but went to college in the Tampa Bay area. Ended up living in Florida for 7 years. Have moved back to Illinois since then but miss white sands and ocean breezes. Wish you had smell-a-vision. There's something so invigorating about the smell of that salty water! Lake Michigan near Chicago may be big but that freshwater doesn't smell the same. Welcome home! So sorry you lost the cute baby goat. Blessings!

When you lose an animal are there regulatory procedures you must follow for disposal? I would imagine that there are some guidelines necessary to contain disease outbreaks. It's something we non-farmers never even consider. Looks like you guys had an enjoyable vacation.

Get you a jar of Swat. It is a white cream that is made to help treat and prevent Fly Strike. My German Shepherds AND horses suffered horribly here in the central Georgia heat. The bad thing is they can either get infected or get huge hematomas from shaking their heads so much and I actually had one of my horses lose half an ear. Swat is amazing, and it’s thick enough to stay on. I always just added about a nickel size dollop to each ear and rubbed it into the edges of their ears. You just reapply every two or three days. Never had another issue with them. Good luck

I’m sorry you lost Luna. She was a very pretty little doeling. Chad Doss just got goats! He said he wasn’t getting any because they are a pain. One of the bucklings is a dapple. He’s a very handsome guy. I can’t wait to see the Emus out and running. I have a feeling they will run off-or, outrun- any goat that tries to mess with them. Visiting Florida is on my bucket list. The white emu is catching up with the other one in size! Pretty soon they will be as tall as you! I remember when Cog Hill bought Nugget a pool to replace his "purple pool" that he liked and had cracked. Except they bought one a little deeper thinking he would like it, but he would not get in it!! So they bought another one like he had before and he got right in! So maybe the regular pool that you had was too deep and the viewer's pool was the right height! I read that when emus run they tend to run in circular routes rather than in a square route. The corners confuse them ( if they are in a pen! ) Glad you had a great vacation! God Bless!

Glad yall had a fun time. My grandad and I used to love going down to Florida for my Fall Break vacations. We'd always try to choose a different beach each time we went. And we would always research the least known/least crowded beaches to go to, and every now and then we would come across a true gem where it seemed like we had the whole beach to ourselves for miles. Those are definitely some of my favorite memories.

What fun! Destin, especially in September, is one of my favorite places on earth. We live in Port Richey, Florida, which is good. But nothing compares with the panhandle. I’m so sorry you lost a baby. This heat has been horrible for farmers and ranchers and all homesteaders this year.

I'm so glad you all were able to have a vacation in Florida. It was fun to see some of your vacation footage. I lived on the Gulf Coast of Florida for a number of years, and this brought back many memories for me. It was so cool to see Caleb catching that Remora fish. I liked that the boat owner had the kids feel the top of the fish's head, where they attach to sharks and such. I am sorry to hear about the loss of little Luna. She was a beautiful little goat. I imagine the heat might have been too much for her. It was fun to see another hen hatched all those baby chicks, and that Betty and all six of her chicks are still doing well. The emus look as if they have grown a foot tall more since the last time I saw them. Kora has grown so much since you first got her. She is learning quite well from Leeske. It's always great to see Mojo, Skeeter, and Smeagol, too.

I’m so sorry you lost your fav goat Kevin, but better to lose her young if she can’t handle the conditions or if something got her then when she is older. Could just have been heat stroke. Glad Black Betty is still keeping her chicks alive and healthy! That other chicken with the 11 chicks it will be fantastic to watch as they all grow older! The goat baby may have an undetected heart issue..I had a cat that was my special baby he was fine and one morning we got up and he was acting odd and we took him to the vet.. by the next morning he’d died and it was from a heart issue we weren’t aware of.. he wasn’t quite a year old.. Your trip looks like fun.. glad you’re able to get away and relax and enjoy family time ..
