3 music Gods, all three splendid and astonishing. John, as a mastermind of this union, is never afraid to experiment and to give as much energy as he can transform into his music, and even some more, but he is not afraid to make some mistakes while improvising, he is free from looking for absolute clarity and definition, giving a chance to a free emotion, but looks at his mistakes with humor and transforms them into brilliant continuation passages. It is unnecessarily to reason who is faster or better, when listen to such a masterpiece.

(1 week ago) This almost one minute of Musical Sublimity: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rH7Fq3WFl6t4abM ...becomes the framing device for this foray into Flamenco Fusion. Coryell and McLaughlin, arguably, invented Fusion Guitar-playing simultaneously, on both sides of the Atlantic; De Lucia seemed to simply appear from another dimension, at about the same time. Such virtuosity is frightening, and superhuman.

Anyone knows how Coryell gets a strange sound like this during his solo ?? thanks :)
@claudeedgarruest62123 жыл бұрын
not sure but i think i hear a little chorus in his sound when he goes in high frequencies. I am already thankful to have the chance to hear that show but the sound being unperfect makes it hard to find out whats a little unpleasant in his sound. Superb musicians. Still in love with them after decades.

Light gauge strings with low action, distorted by the nature of an undersaddle piezo, through various gain stages is probably going to sound something like this.

This line-up was far better than when they got Al di Meola in, Meola was always trying unsuccessfully to out do de Lucia.

I think McLaughlin was playing mind games too, unfortunately he just overdoes it, probably least favourite period of his, and I love McLaughlin, a very English thing I think in ways, to be obssessed with technique and showing off, it's ok if not done too much, I try to play a bit like a kid sometimes to avoid this but I guess it's possible to do and not too bad if a little. Of Course when Al Di got into it was worse, real 'wanking', masturbating on stage. :-(

Don't care for Di Meola's (live, acoustic) tone, and he does the same scale runs over and over again. Larry was a better fit, even though he was not as technically accomplished as Paco or John. I think he got ousted for being a heroin addict.
