My comment about the Guard Dog was taken from you, of course! Terri's been seeing two second year eagles hangin out together here a lot.

Look again, Gary, I think after the intruder and Guardian pass out of the picture there was Liberty following near the bottom of the screen! Just my opinion but it looked like white tail feathers! 😊

I'll be watching for a PIP but not sure if that will happen as this eggie was left alone for 4 & 1/2 hrs. once due to parents chasing an intruder. 😰

Because of the small head I’m thinking it looks like a turkey vulture but because of the low altitude I’m thinking it’s got to be an eagle. In other words, I’m completely confused. But one thing I’m not confused about is this… When you need your bits you got to get your bits!
@denni7173 Жыл бұрын
Turkey vultures (my bird of study along with California ravens) do not kill. They do not have the talons to kill and are generally passive to a fault. Juvenile eagles, hawks, and Ravens will fly amongst vultures as they play to "hide" in plain sight. Rodents and other creatures on the ground spot vultures and feel safe, and go about their lives. Raptors and corvids hidden amongst the vultures utilize that to then attack and kill. Vultures are quite literally the garbage collectors of the sky.

Well, I've seen the skies pretty crowded on windy days. Could have been a vulture here and an eagle 8-10 minutes later. I love your comment about the small head. I hadn't looked at that aspect. Fishy bitz is fishy bitz!

Great input and I always try to learn something from our community. I've often wondered about that mixing between eagles and vultures soaring. We have lots of images from our ground crew showing vultures and eagles also on the ground together. The vultures absolutely know the pecking order! Thank you again!
