Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 Movie Review: An Emotional Close Out

You're so right about the music. It wasn't hitting like Vol. 1& 2. The music didn't fit the scene/ mood or it was too loud. Also it could've been about 20 minutes shorter. Overall it's still a good movie and a 7.5 or 8 is a fair score.

So this is another MCU film that has a self contained stand alone story for an ending for a trilogy that again doesn't make you feel like it's connected to the rest of the 31 films that came before it however it sounds like it's still a fun ride to watch. Im definitely gonna go see it.

The point of Adam Warlock is to emphasize how special rocket is, since they come from the same place, Rocket needed a spectrum of comparisons, from grotesque experimente to godly figures like Adam, and still he was in the middle, the heart, the best result.

Watched this film on D+ and I must say I was pleasantly surprised!! I’ve never been a Guardians fan as I didn’t grow up with their comics, but this movie was a FUN ride. I mentioned to my wife that I enjoyed that the stakes weren’t overly high. This wasn’t the “end of the world” or “the end of the multi-verse”. Superhero films often run to the well of ultra high stakes and it ends up causing me not to become invested b/c we know the world won’t end, the universe won’t be destroyed so what’s the point in caring lol? This film’s plot had me INVESTED. At times the tension was palpable and I found myself rooting for Rocket’s team. I’m a sucker for movies that make me FEEL something. IMO this may be the best Marvel film since Infinity War but I wouldn’t fight you if you wanted to argue No Way Home. The visuals were great. The STORY was well-written besides the Gamora and Star Lord scenes lol. It’s like we get it, she DON’T want him lol. That sucks let’s move on LOL. The character development with Groot and Nebula. Nebula has EMOTIONS, wow lol. That was fun!!

Maybe because I had such low expectations after MCU’s Phase 4 trash parade, I was able to actually be caught off guard with this film… but imo this has to be the BEST movie to come outta Marvel Studios since Endgame… yes, including No Way Home (I’m sure I’m probably the only person who thought bringing all of the Peter’s together was overrated). The pacing, action, cinematography, and feels we’re on point for me. Gunn pushed the envelope with character and set designs that made me squirm in my seat while watching. Some parts were gross and weird… in a good way. My eyes were locked to the screen. I’m not a comic book reader, so Warlock’s treatment didn’t bother me. They explained he’s still basically a child. I accepted that and enjoyed the rest of the movie. I was entertained and had a great time @ the matinee 😁🚀

I think Marvel should’ve took Rocket origin story and made it a Disney+ special, that could’ve trimmed the movie down 30-40 mins and that way they could’ve gave Adam Warlock some more airtime…

Great review E 💯 I'll pass on this one though. Guardians were never really my jam, but i did enjoy the first movie and their appearance in Infinity War. This one definitely sounds like a wait and see on D+.

I’m late on the comment but I thought the movie was great ! I gave it a 8.5 there was some minor issues but nothing major I think it was written beautifully and what we expected to what happened was good because the end was more surprising than what we thought would happen ….. and the only big thing I disagreed with you big on was the music I thought the music was perfect the songs fit the scenes perfectly and there were meanings why they were put where they were so you did good on the review overall outside of the music

In Endgame the Avengers went back to 2014 which alerted the Thanos of that time, so when they went back to present time Thanos followed them bringing Gamora with him then after the Avengers defeated Thanos Gamora stuck around in this new time

Oh and I disagree with the Warlock take ! Being that they dumbed him down I wanna see more and how strong they make him in future movies the fact they made it clear he was taken out the cocoon early explains it and you can just tell he’s only going to get stronger and more like the comic warlock

Why does marvel want so badly to NOT do marvel films. Stop the pointless disregard and minimization of the characters and story lines. Adam Warlock was a pivotal & important character. Also Thanos should have had a stand alone movie. Give these legacy villains their proper treatment. They def don't deserve to be introduced and just "killed".

The only thing that would’ve closed this out and made sense is for Starlord to die. He could sacrifice himself for Gamora. His sacrifice would show Adam Warlock that he was on the wrong side and had him switch over. He could lead the Guardians going forward. (I didn’t feel his casting but haven’t seen it yet).
