This scene isn't just showing the good nature of the heroes (they prioritize safety of the people over just beating on the villains), it also shows that they're really good at their job. One guy tosses soldiers into the sky just hard enough to give Omni-Man time to catch them. There's an implied trust in one hero that the other heroes will pick up where the he left off. It's a HUGE contrast with the younger team of heroes who show up later.

I'm glad the show put effort in the globe as characters and working as a team, I see "knock-off" thrown about but I think homage to justice league is more accurate, they don't make a mockery of the tropes they embody and embrace the heroism akin with the justice league. As well that they co-ordinate their actions effectively. Which makes Omni-Man's action all the more shocking come the end of the episode.

The entire first episode is misdirecting the viewer into thinking the show is a pretty generic superhero story until those last 4 minutes happen, having these Justice League knock-offs be shown off in a way that makes them seem interesting and like they'll be important to the story really helps sell that false sense of familiarity before the show's true colors are revealed. Also in the original story these dudes have like 1 panel total before getting killed in an instant, at least the show gave them a few minutes of relevance before relegating them to cannon fodder.

This scene is incredibly smart for the series in my opinion. It gives all the viewers a false sense of security for what to expect. It looks like another superhero series where the big league save the day with hero quips, diverse superpowers, and matching teamwork. It has all the essentials that you usually see in a normal superhero series and eventually even gives the heroes some more personality and story for their characters so you feel as if they really will be prominent in the series and appear in almost every episode. Especially the violence in this scene, the most blood that was shed at this point was one of the twins having a slight blood splat out their eye from a hard hit, but that’s it really. It really hits you hard at the end of the episode when you see the true nature of the series

This scene makes you realize just how reliant a supervillain would be on hostages and bystanders to keep them safe. Once they're out of the picture, a well-coordinated hero team, even just one not holding back anymore and a villain would end up pretty screwed. On the other hand makes the villains that do oblige heroes and say "let's take this some place out in the open and away from non-combatants" that much more badass in their own right.

Even though Omni-Man/ Nolan was still indoctrinated under the hundreds of years of viltrumite, fascist propaganda I believe he found company, even friendship in the guardians. Titans among mortals, like him. He did his duty, as any soldier is commanded, but in no way was his massacre out of sadistic pleasure. He spent years saving people with them. Many years of genuine, real connection with realistically lesser evolved beings than himself. Given his character, I’m sure this haunts him to the end of his days. He did not want them to die.

You got little snippets like darkwing playing chess with him and red rush helping to pick his costume. He was watching Omni-man save the soldiers out of distrust. Some people in real life have what is called: "Psycho-sense" (a play on "Spidey-sense"). Philosopher and professor Jordan Petersen says "Psycho-sense" is an evolutionary instinct instilled in most (but not all people) that let's us know that there is something "off" about someone we know or someone around us. Peterson says it is a sense that detects the person is a predator, and to keep an eye on them. In ancient cultures, if too many people had "Psycho-sense" about a certain member of the tribe or village they didn't play around: they either exiled or stoned the person to death.

Tbh I kinda wished they lasted until the end of the season. And when the final battle happened it would be between omniman vs invincible and the guardians. It would have played out the same but it would give us knowledge of how powerful omniman is and us the audience would lose hope that nothing can stop omniman.

I think the Mauler Twins are hella underrated. They kept getting back up despite so many attacks from the Guardians and Omniman himself and they appear to look like meatheads but are just as smart as Robot if not smarter

Honestly, they are more coordinated than some incarnations of the Justice League. Plus they all seemed so interesting and while their powers are similar they're personalities and backstories all seem unique.
