Such a bias most English fans have, without doing any research (who wants to do their due diligence on the Eredivisie anyway, right?). Feyenoord are only 4th in Eredivisie after a bad run of games in the beginning of the season under their new manager. They won the Dutch cup last season and were champions the year before. Also, they beat PSV for the Johan Cruyff shield in august. So realistically they're second best team in NL at the moment, only after PSV and most likely competing with Ajax for second place this season. That being said, the times PL sides easily disposed of their Eredivisie opponents in European competition in recent times are (much) more of a rarity than the Eredivisie sides getting at least a draw. Point being the gap isn't as big as most English fans/pundits think and frankly that's a good thing since money hasn't ruined everything in football. Yet.

I'm just suggesting that maybe, from an English perspective, fans just think their team is just gonna steamroll any club outside the top 5 leagues. It can happen, but it's no guarantee by any means. For example, in 2017 City needed a 88 minute winner by Sterling and Feyenoord was worse then (only at De Kuip it wasn't close). Luckily, football can still be quite unpredictable.

One thing that the Man Utd team of yore did was always give young players a season to establish themselves and a chance in the first team. City have gotten obsessed with the notion of appearing to be a good business and sold off players like Lavia, Delap and yes Cole Palmer and in just those three you have a midfielder to replace Rodri, A forward to support and rotate with Haaland and a versatile attacking talent to help in virtually every aspect of attacking play.
