i feel the same way. i only discovered her less than a year ago as well, and also feel frustrated that I did not know about her much sooner. as if that is not frustrating enough, the fact is that all of us could have known about her much sooner, had we explored just a little bit. see, she sang the overture to the movie Titanic. I saw that movie two decades ago. had i simply been curious enough to find out who was doing the vocals in that movie other than celine dion, i could have known about Sissel for the last 20 years. very very frustrating, to say the least

Mary, I was fortunate enough to have found her in 2001 completely by accident (Shenandoah). my question to my spouse at the time.. WHO IS THIS AWESOME artist? and having followed her through the intervening years I was even more impressed. not only is she beautiful she smiles with her eyes from the soul. and she is ALWAYS "smiling". her mastery of language is also incredible and she speaks mine (USA English) with absolutely NO dialect (regarding my native tongue) that I can detect. How can she possibly do that? and so in my humble opinion she possesses a true gift for all of us to enjoy to the fullest. she makes me feel human again and I do not mind admitting that she brings many tears to my eyes. yes. others do that too on occasion. but not like her...

I witnessed this live 11-30-2013 at the Oslo Konserthus, as part of her 2013 Christmas Tour in Norway. I will not repeat the endless superlatives justifiably assigned to this lady, but two other points instead. First, if you think her voice is good on a recording, wait until you hear the power and clarity in person. Last but most, this is much more than just a bunch of pretty sounds and songs. You are overwhelmed with the sense you are in the presence of greatness. An angel making love with her voice that moves the entire audience to fight back tears. For two glorious hours, we cheat the harsh realities of everyday pain and suffering, instead held securely in a soft and loving place of ultimate protection, where there are only All Good Things. As we slowly retreat in afterglow back to our realities, the specific experience is very little remembered: one is not sure what really happened. But the emotional force of it remains forever.
