Gubbisa /Name Giving Ceremony

Name Giving Ceremony [Gubbisa] is an elaborate namegiving ceremony for first born son called 'angafa'. The ceremony normally lasts three to five days. Day_1: Mukha: trees collection day. This day is devoted to collecting the poles and grass required to build 'galma', the ceremonial house. Day_2: Galma: the ceremonial house. This is for building the house, 'galma'. The work starts early even while the cattle are still in the kraal. Day_3: Maq-baasa: Giving the name; core day of the ceremony. Day_4: Sangaa Gubbisaa: feasting day. And Day_5: Madaalaafi Cormii: on this day, all men in the villages are called to come together. Then madaala (curds) and kochee (mixture of barely and butter, sometimes also meat) are shared.
