This is a video of the one of the sirens used in World War 2 in Guernsey. The siren is sounded every year on the morning of May 9th to commemorate the islands being liberated. In between the attack and all clear tones there was a 2 minute silence which has been cut from the final edit.

That sounds like a Castle Castings. Nice catch! I am a siren enthusiast too and I film them up close and yet again amazing test!

@@hmsirensandfirealarms they were all castle castings sirens put there after the carters and gents because WW2 had finished but they needed new sirens in case of the cold war and that's where the castle castings sirens came into it but yes that may well of had GENTS and CARTER sirens

Yep hopefully at some point! This siren is only used twice a year on liberation and Remembrance Day though so will have to wait until then. There is also a siren at the quarry here which is a similar or the same model which I want to get a vid of at some point too

@@hmsirensandfirealarms I know but we still tested them anyway and scrambled vulkan bombers just like the us scrambled their B52 fortress nuclear bombers. You went born so you wouldn't know the cold war like me as I was born in the midst of it. So the UK was involved in the cold war as we were a target by the soviets just like every western country. We were VERY MUCH involved so that's why we needed X WW2 sirens and newer sirens built for the cold war like secomak and castle castings dual tone sirens. After the cold war ended many sirens were scrapped but many sirens we still had and still have are as you know used in big nuclear bases and mines as well as bunkers and floods. there is a bunker with a castle castings you put on youtube and that is from the cold war. We didn't get bombed in the cold war but we could have been and I was born in the cold war. I wasn't living in a big city so didn't hear any siren tests but there were TV alerts by the British cold war defence of a siren giving the 4 minute warning telling you what could of happend plus there were nuclear drills in the city's and large towns. Did you know that police boxes in big and smaller city's had sirens and edimburg had them as well as London Coventry Birmingham Bradford and so on so you can't say we wernt in the cold war because we were

@@hmsirensandfirealarms I was born in 1971 and the town where I lived near had a part time fire station with a Gents 4HP just like the siren in hexham that sounded the all clear tone until the 90s when pagers took over. I saw another WW2 Gents on a pylon witch was used eather for air raids or fires and another siren on a garage in dilston Northumberland. I think the siren on the pylon on a field was inactive but may have sounded in the cold war too if needed
