Guerrilla, U.S.A. - The Big Picture

Big Picture camera crews in the rugged countryside of West Virginia cover an actual situation pitting the Special Forces of the U.S. Army, against the "Aggressor." Although it's a training problem, the script is written as it is enacted and the residents of Preston County are invited to join whichever side they choose. "Guerrilla, U.S.A." is exciting, timely, and informative.

Special Note: The gentleman with accent is Distinguished Flying Cross recipient, LT (formerly SS Untersturmfuhrer) Lauri Törni (Larry Thorne). He was later killed in Vietnam and his remains were interred at Arlington Cemetery. He is the only former member of the Waffen SS known to be interred there.

@nairda55555
@nairda55555 Жыл бұрын
Not necessarily. You just need massive force advantage. There were many assymetrical and decentralized german guerilla's resisting allied and soviet troops, but they could not halt the take over of Germany. Or for example, the insurgent native americans facing the industrial power of the Union. The Romans massacring the Gauls. The Mongol conquests of the Rus. In such, a hard stance of near total subjugation was undertaken. The cases where resistance was possible tends to be niche, where conquest is not an option, such as in Vietnam where invasion and occupation of North Vietnam was ruled out due to the risk of retaliation by the Soviets. In which case your problem is a political one, not a military one. Ultiamtely, as Clausewitz says, "War is an extension of Politics"

@@brennenboger1208 well who'se fighting you does matter some too. As does who you are. But you're very right. Consider the Spanish and the British Colonials in the new world had great technological advantages against the natives, in armor, horses, gunpowder, even disease resistance. And yet the Spanish were never able to properly colonize north of the rio-grande, beyond their cities and civilization areas, forever being driven and hunted down by indian raids. Something the the British and later Americans were able to handle. Why? Because the Spaniards wouldn't arm their peasants and treated them like peasants, forcing the army to run like chickens hither and thither to deal with a mobile force. The british had no such qualms in allowing muskets to the colonist. Admittedly it bit them in the ass when said colonists revolted, but it ensured it was a war the Europeans would win. All because the British gave them the means to conquer, and allowed them to fight.

The guy with the special forces Boonie is Finnish Ssgt. Thorne ( I believe he was promoted posthumously) .This guy was my dads drill instructor Range Master at fort Dix in November 1963..... If this guy was a nazi he hid it really well because he always told my dad was lucky to be born in America which was the best country ever....My dad was actually in basic training when Kennedy was killed and they went on red alert . My dad had never shot a battle rifle Before... Thorne liked my dad Even though he couldn't hit the side of the barn and actually got my dad to break center at 300m.... My dad told me he worked on his confidence and told my dad to envision the bullet hitting before he pulled the trigger.... When Thorne died in Vietnam , Word in the u s military spread everywhere about it.... My dad and his friends were really bummed out he had been Transferred to Miami Florida reserves where I was born. ....My dad talked a lot about him when I was a kid.... He even told me the ex Whermacht were all drill instructors this was in 1970's before it was made public record...later I learned of operation paper clip.

The People of Appalachia have a multi-century-long history of resisting tyranny, fighting unconventionally (and prevailing ) against technological superior forces, and being able to survive without any outside help, contact, or support. If a Second US Civil War ever pops off, the Forces of Tyranny would be well-advised to GTFO of Appalachia, if they intend to continue breathing air. Mountain Folk don't GAF, and will ALWAYS beat their oppressors and aggressors, because they do not care how many losses they take in defense of their lifestyle, heritage, and homelands. What is ironic about this training video, is that the "leadership" of the US Military--and the US Government--has been thoroughly infiltrated and overtaken by NeoMarxists, and they would most likely BE the "baddies" themselves, if such a scenario ever transpired in "CuRrEnT YeAr"...

If you think any serious marxist would put themselves in the neoliberal state structure of the USA you don't know what Marxism is. Furthermore, Appalachia is a region, not an ideology. "forces of tyranny" should this conflict happen it wont be a big brother vs the rural farmer situation, it'd be a brothers war. You'd likley have neighbors fighting neighbors, it'd be just as bloody as the rest of the country Quit frothing at the mouth for a civil war. In this day and age it will be the single bloodiest conflict in human history. The government being more tolerant of peoples sexualities should NOT warrant this kind of rhetoric. @@Reworkd The Marxists remaining in the Western world have fully absorbed social liberalism into their ideology, effectively aligning themselves with the liberal state. Furthermore, the impact of geography and history on regional political ideology should not be underestimated when considering future outcomes. Your nonchalant dismissal of the profound grievances held by conservatives in our nation, which extends far beyond your superficial articulation of these concerns, is precisely the reason why a future civil conflict is inevitable within our country in the forthcoming decades. The ideological chasm that exists between the American left and right embodies two distinct and contrasting visions for our society. However, you appear to trivialize this glaring divide, failing to acknowledge its fundamental significance.

There's still plenty of guns in the Old Northwest! Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, etc! America is the repository of all the small arms of the world, so any aggressor would have a tough time trying to conquer any part of the US. There are more armed men and women in the woods in just three states on opening day of deer season than the entire US military. With all the law abiding gun owners in America, We the People constitute the largest armed force in the world. And we would have no Rules of Engagement, unlike the government forces. Also, I refuse to believe that the majority of the US military would "just follow orders" to turn against the People they've sworn an oath to defend. If the government turns tyrannical, the majority of the military would go AWOL, taking truckloads of weapons, rations, medical supplies, etc, and join the "insurgency".

I remember this exercise well. July 1962. was with B Co 501st Inf, 101st Airborne Division as a young PFC RTO carrying a ANPRC10 and an M- 14. The next month we were in South Carolina doing Swift Strike II then in Oxford, Miss/Ole Miss in Septembe, then on 1st Ready for Cuban Missle Cises in November. In December it was back to th field for "regular" training and in January back to FORT Campbell for cold weather training in knee deep.

For the sake of accuracy the guerilla chief (the gentleman with the accent and parachute camouflage bush hat with Laotian jump wings attached to the side) is not Lauri Torni/ Larry Thorne. Just because someone has a foreign accent doesn't make them Larry Thorne - who looks completely different. The man pictures is Jyri Laats an Estonian who came to the USA via Sweden. He served on FA-65 in Laos in 1961 so for sure this video is from after his deployment given the bush hat. Hotfoot became White Star in '61 and want to say Team Moon was lost around that same time. @jaydaviston8612

It’s wild how we’ve changed from then to now. Now we have civilians who train and can shoot well, own night vision and thermal so imagine what a foreign country must think nowadays. Hell they were scared when everyone had shotguns and bolt action rifles and scared the Japanese from invading. Then again back then we didn’t have Americans who were ashamed of the flag, hated their country and tried to destroy it. Neither did the politicians back then either though😂

There's a reason for that ; the guerrilla leader was the SF soldier Jyri Laats, born in Estonia and who passed away in 2018. If you google his name, his friend Jüri Estam wrote that throughout his SF career, he regularly bumped into other Estonians and Finns, as it wasn't a good idea for these men to stay in these countries following the Finnish armistice and the re-occupation of Estonia by the Soviets in 1944.
