Me too! I was surprisingly awful. Mad props, ultimately, to Paul, for concocting the non-obvious bass lines....many, if not most bassists have merely echoed or closely mimicked the lead line for their parts, but not Paul! Many times, Paul has composed a completely different song-within-a-song, while uniquely complementing the melody. And, as someone above correctly noted....all while singing!

@@Chavezoid I like Something but not keen on the most famous White Album version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps because of Eric Clapton playing on it. I think he's the most boring and overrated player ever. Hearing him on it also makes me cross because of how much he influenced Harrison from that point on. I rate Harrison's brilliant playing from 63-68 as way cooler than anything Clapton ever did. When I listen to The White album, I programme in the orchestral mix of While My Guitar Gently Weeps instead of the take with Clapton's crap widdle-dee-deeing.

I'm really embarrassed, I saw the Beatles in concert in '64 and '65, I've been an avid fan for most of my life; to me personally, they were the greatest musicians of the 20th Century, and yet I couldn't guess more than a handful of those base lines, even as well played as they were. When I saw them in Milwaukee in '64, it was so deafeningly loud that the only piece I was certain they had played was You Can't Do That, because I recognized Paul's last three notes. Thanks for including Daytripper. This video was well done, I had a lot of fun. Thanks.

I could only recognize the "gimmes," the obvious songs ("Come Together," "Day Tripper"), and I though I recognized "Birthday" I didn't get it before time ran out. I was clueless on the others, except for "Helter Skelter" which I mistook for "Revolution," probably because of their faster tempos. You both did much better than me. I don't dislike any of the 5 songs I failed on (Something, Hello Goodbye, Tell Me Why, While My Guitar Gently Weeps and Birthday) but, in my defence, they're a long way outside of my favourite 50 Beatles tunes.

Once you master all his basslines from volume 1 to their last album, certainly you will learn a lot about bass theory and become a great bass player like the legendary female bass player, Carol Kaye. They are both melodic bass players. Most of my favorite bass runs are Hey Bull Dog, Something, Drive My Car, And Your Bird Can Sing, Taxman among others.

This is a great quiz. It highlights how integral McCartney's Bass lines to the songs. Told an old friend who said "I'm sick of the Beatles" ( he meant the "legendary" status). I said "Man, just listen to them as a Band, pretty young to be coming up with stuff we take for granted now, like Air". With the perspective of age, it's amazing how quickly and instinctively they progressed with all the media stuff going on, while so young, and continued to afterwards, in their own ways. Thank you!

This Proves what great compositions the beatles created especially in the later stages of their Career, the single instruments rarely just play just a melody for themselves, they always serve the greater picture to create iconic melodys in unity with the whole band. I think thats the reason why its so hard to recognize the songs only with a bass line because the bass line rarely just plays a foundation for the guitar or a riff on its own, instead Paul plays always something that creates a deeper layer of melody in the song that works perfectly with the rest of the instruments.

I actually got 13, but I did have to stop and re-listen before the timer was up on a couple of the tunes, and I didn't get All My Lovin' until the very last 3 seconds of it.
