Depends how it is looked at. It can be said to have 44 countries or 50. 44 are entirely in Europe (except Russia) while 6 countries have some parts in Europe and the rest in Asia. Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Cyprus being the 6 that are more in Asia than Europe, but are usually considered European. Some countries more than others.
