That's the only one I missed ,too. I was ages 10-20 during the 60's and had most of those on 45's. It was the tendency, maybe the rule, for DJ's on AM radio to talk through the instrumental intro, right up until the first lyric, so some of the intro's were hard to remember because we never heard them clearly. I guarantee anyone listening to the radio then would get "Wild Thing" after the first guitar wail.

My two fun facts on these- Unchained Melody is called that because it was the theme for a film set in a Prison called "Unchained" The lyrics then make lots of sense with time going by slowly and wondering if you are still mine. These Boots are Made for Walking was written by Lee Hazlewood intending to sing it himself but Nancy Sinatra told him it sounds wrong if a man sings it.

Some I got by the first two notes, the Jacques Dutronc I never heard of, and a few of them flew over my head quite embarrassingly. "All Along the Watchtower" was not written by Hendrix, it was a song by Bob Dylan... Was that cheating? By asking the title AND the artist, you also need to specify that you want an answer that fits only THIS version of the song. I suppose the same could be said for other songs here, like "House of the Rising Sun" (Clarence Ashley, 1933), but that would be pedantic since it's not really from that decade at all, but the Dylan song was from only 6 months earlier than the Hendrix cover. I'm a French-speaking Canadian over 60, and I've never ever heard of "Les Cactus"! So, tell me, how the hell does that get into a quizz with those other English-language songs, eh? Is it just because it's from the '60s? --> So were thousands of other French, Spanish, German, and Italian songs which didn't make your list... I doubt very much that this 4th place song had any appreciable airtime at all outside of France. Is this another instance of you playing fast and loose with the rules? Why should we bother playing these games at all if you're just gonna throw in any ole song you want just to spoil the fun? 🤷‍♂

Aretha Franklin sang the original version of this song in 1967, when Carole King composed it for her. King then performed that song herself in 1971! 😊 if you know of any earlier version of the song, I did not and the choice of Franklin was all in good faith :)

Wow. I am bad at titles. I could sing most of these, but not fast enough to get to the title line part of the lyrics. And two Beatles songs. I approve. (Even with the one stupid cactus song that none of us on here know).
