Brought back memories of my childhood, with one semi-correction I have to offer: The picture accompanying the "Lassie" theme showed the original cast (Tommy Rettig, Jan Clayton, George Cleveland), while the theme music was that used in the episodes with the third cast (Jon Provost, June Lockhart, Hugh Reilly). To the uninitiated, the second cast had Provost, but with Cloris Leachman and Jon Sheppod (sp?) as the parents.

Are you correct on all that? Cloris Leachman was on "Lassie"? OMG!! What was about the last thing she did? "Dancing with the Stars", a handful of years ago? "Frau Blucher!" ...... [horses heard in background] "Naaayyyy!! Naaaayyyyy!!".

I was born in '57. I nailed all but 3. I probably could've gotten all but Playhouse 90 (never watched it), but it made it much harder that more than half weren't the original theme song but only lame studio musician recreations. A lot of those ones I had to really listen to realize what it actually was supposed to be. And I'll bet that's why a lot of people didn't recognize as many as they would have if it had been the actual authentic song from the show. Every authentic theme I knew in the first 2 or 3 notes. What would be really fun is if someone put together one of these using the jingles from those old commercial we used to see over & over & over. Like all those cigarette commercials.... "Winston tastes good like a cigarette should...." or " Parliament...with the filter that's in...recessed in" or "You can take Salem out of the country BUT....You can't take the country out of Sa-lem".

I Missed, Lassie, Father Knows Best, The Donna Reed Show, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Honeymooners, Texaco Star Theatre, Have Gun-Will Travel, The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, Maverick, Wagon Train, Make Room For Daddy, The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp, You Bet Your Life, The Burns and Allen Show, The Jack Benny Show, The Mickey Mouse, Playhouse 90, Our Miss Brooks, Peter Gunn. The majority I did know were ones I watched as Reruns years later. A Few like Highway Patrol and Superman I remembered watching as a very little kid.

Great! But now which was the BEST show and/or your FAVORITE show? I think "Gunsmoke" was on for 20 years!! "Honeymooners" was ONLY on for 1 season!! "Superman" was actually a pretty good show, production wise. The supporting cast was a bit "comical". I say that MY FAVORITE show is "Perry Mason".

ok, not the best playing of the music. Ha ha ha ha!! I GUESSED "The Donna Reed Show" correctly!!! I figured she had to be in there. Oh the daughter is "what's her face" from "Coach". She married Mike Farrell who played "B.J. Hunnicut" on "MASH". Shelley Fabares, right? She was also on "One Day At A Time" for awhile.

We didn't have a TV until I was older so I missed several. Then, when we did get one, I spent most of the time outside, summer and winter. Now days I can't stand tv.
