And idk why I get annoyed when people say he could have fit on that door with her; he TRIED when she first got on and it nearly capsized so he didn’t. It’s called buoyancy; too much weight. This is my pet peeve. In the theatrical release I saw in 1997, Rose tried to get Jack onto the door, and it kept throwing them off it. And Jack being the practical guy he was, told her to stay put and he would float next to her

@@dhf161 Not really. Rose is barely conscious as is - she goes back into that water and she's not getting back out. There are literally bodies with life jackets all around them that bare that out. The only option that could have worked was Jack abandoning Rose and trying to make it to another bit of debris before he freezes to death and hoping it will sustain his weight. Remote chance at best but thats literally the only way both could have survived.

When will people actually watch the movie - In Titanic he tries to get on and it immediately starts to tip over. The debris literally is wide enough to hold them but not buoyant enough to hold them. Why does no one seem to remember that when Jack tried climbing onto the door, the door almost flipped. That's how she was alone on it. Granted, I think they should've tried a few more times at different angles, but HE DID TRY TO CLIMB ON.

They tried one half-assed attempt to both get on the door and it tipped over. Jack should have gotten on first and leaned to the opposite side to act as a counterweight to pull her up. Or, if the buoyancy thing is true (a point I heavily doubt), at the very least go to the opposite side to pull each other up so at least both their upper bodies are out of the water.

How an injured man is supposed to get that life jacket off a body, swim under said door and successfully tie it on in almost total darkness in freezing conditions and then somehow have the energy to scramble on in the time before he becomes incapacitated is the issue. Just the door itself - it pretty much tips over every time. He tries to get on in the film and it tips straight away. Another set of quotes. Winslet knows a bit about water, saying she spends a lot of time paddle boarding, surfing (board, kite and wind), scuba diving and cold water swimming. And if you put two adults on a stand-up paddleboard, she says, it becomes "immediately extremely unstable." "I have to be honest, right," she said. "I actually don't believe that we would have survived if we had both gotten on that door. I think he could have fit but it would have tipped and it would not have been a sustainable idea."
