hey hey, first of all thank you for all the support on the video, i don't really understand why this one in particular blew up the way it did but i appreciate it 🥰 however, i just wanted to remind everyone that this video is now about 3 years old and i can't be bothered to take it down so just a little message from me: i have no idea about kpop anymore and especially not what songs i put in this video so for anyone who wants to say anything about the song choice or how they are not old enough or whatever.. i don't really care 🥲while i appreciate the attempt of giving feedback, i don't plan on remaking this or any other of my videos anytime soon, i don't even really listen to kpop anymore so don't expect anything from me in that matter.. so if you enjoy the video you are welcome to stay, if not, it doesn't bother me, continue doing your own thing :)

I really liked how interesting and unique the song and artist choices are here! a lot more of the obscure stuff from 2nd gen/early 3rd gen and though I could pick the artist easily for quite a few of them, I couldn't quite remember which song (or vice versa for the lesser known groups)

I'm so Glad you put Rising sun!! OMG! In every games that I play, it's always Mirotic (I love mirotic, I'm a huge Cassiopeia since a long time, that's not the problem) and it feels so good to hear one of their other songs, because ALL of their songs are ICONIC!! TVXQ! is ICONIC 😍😍😍😍

YES! They are LEGENDS! They deserve to be more known from new generation's fans, I've already been into kpop in the beginning of the 3rd gen but I knew kpop with 2nd gen groups like them, and also 1st gen like H.O.T Shinhwa or Sechskies ㅋㅋㅋ

While I like this compilation a lot, there was one thing off to me: Shinwa debuted 1998, which means they are 1st generation (the release date of this song is probably in 2nd gen, but still) Also I think the time frames for the generations are controversial. To me the critical time frame for the changes between 2nd and 3rd gen is the first half of 2012. To me B.A.P, Nu'est, BTOB and Vixx are 2nd, but EXO is third, mainly from the type of music they made. But like I said, opinions differ on this. The change from 3rd to 4th is controversial as well. Some say it's in 2016 with NCT's Debut, some call this generation 3.5. My take is that 4rd Gen starts in early 2018 with Stray kids debut. Now peole refer to The Boyz as 4rd Gen as well, their debut was Dec 2017, so that's kind of there.... Where I was going with this: so 3rd Generation is max. on the timeframe between mid 2012 to mid 2018, which means only six years. So adding songs that were released end of 2015 (3,5 years in to that frame) can't really be considered early 3rd generation to me. I would like to point out, that this isn't nitpicking or attacking the creator from my part, I would simply love to hear everyone's opinions on the timeframe matter.

i also think that's super interesting!! i know this comment is from a while ago but i've given a lot of thought to the generations of kpop so here's some opinions from me: 2nd gen for me definitely starts with tvxq's debut - they are imo the first time sm perfected their boygroup formula, and they marked a change of an era, with more and more globalization as well as more and more groups following the precedents that they set. 3rd gen starts in 2012 for me as well, but i'm including all groups that debuted then (even though i definitely get what you mean, btob especially has always felt like a 2nd gen group to me, so maybe 2012 was more of a transitional year) and i think b.a.p and exo are two of the groups that define 3rd gen. b.a.p was such a smash hit back in the day and so many boygroups afterwards tried to be like them (hip-hop focused, talking about social issues, darker concepts, imo they properly popularized the "one rapper with a deep voice and one with a high voice" trend that bigbang started). exo was a gamechanger in terms of a) lore (just look at kwangya nowadays...) and b) the amount of production and money that went into them: teasers, pre-debut singles, the fact that they were hitting both the korean and chinese market. 3rd gen properly solidifed in about 2015 for me tbh, everything that came out around that time exemplifies what 3rd gen was (2015 was also a great year with great songs). i think if people want a good representation of 3rd gen music 2015 is a good year to start with. and then 4th gen is difficult for reasons i have yet to properly figure out lol for me personally i think it starts towards the end of 2018 with specifically wanna one's disbandement (and iz*one's debut). i think wanna one were the last popular 3rd gen boygroup and everything that follows is in a post-produce 101 world where survival shows to create groups are more and more common, as well as that super strong focus on promoting internationally, specifically in the west. 4th gen solidified in 2019 and 2020 imo and have a couple of artists i think really represent that generation (ateez, itzy) in terms of musical style and how the focus shifted from vocals to performance (i'm saying this as neutrally as possible, neither is a bad focus, it's just how it is). i think some groups like the boyz (or astro) that are technically still 3rd gen changed concepts around 2018/2019? and got more popular after that, so maybe that's why they feel like 4th gen or are referred to as such?

I got 25/45 (including the last one, it was probably my favourite Block B song before I heard Nillilli mambo) and I've been a kpop stan for about 2 years now, so idk if that's good or not hahahahhha Anyway, with the Speed song I also immidiately understood why it was the dance practice and not the music video and then I saw the note at the top. It really is sad how the MV is literally just a stage performance, it could have been something SOOO cool. Though it is kind of iconic how the dance practice has more views than the MV, since it's one of my personal favourite choreos. Oh, what Speed could have been if they had been under a better company 😕
