At the risk of stating the obvious: Rhode Island, Delaware, Connecticut, New Jersey, Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts are indeed very small compared with the others. All are smaller than Hawaii which is easy to recognise with it's own enlarged map.

I used to be like that too. What helped me recently was seeing that Vermont is shaped sort of like a V. From there, I can just guess the other one is N.H. Hope this helps!
