I love where I'm at in the hobby. I opened an indoor crawler park and have gained the support of the scale rc community. That, in turn has allowed me to start carrying rc products and also allowed me to expand on my own line of 3d printed parts and accessories.

I feel at a peak right now. I want to grow my KZbin, but be more useful for others, other than just having fun creating videos, but keep that enjoyable mindset. More selective what I take on. Plus in person painting at events... minus the fumes, somehow.

Used to run with a lot of guys that now work for Vanquish, RPP, Amain, Proline, etc. Started my own YT channel, but to be honest, I just try to keep it fun- because I tend to suck at marketing. I have always wanted a wildly inexpensive radio with a bunch of meows. As far as the hobby goes, I'm not where I want to be at all. My biggest hurdle is space. I don't have a garage or shop to set up so I'm limited to what I can do in the house or at a buddies garage. Having hobby ADHD doesn't help... I split my time between work, RC, model building, golf, riding/working on my motorcycle... I manage to sneak eating and sleeping in there when I can lol.

@ninthislandrc2 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, no, I'm not "where I want to be" in the RC hobby. I'd luv to have more time for building & running RCs, as well as more time for filming/editing videos for my KZbin channel, but there are a couple 'problems' (for the first one, I say this in a good/positive way) preventing this. The first is the complete unpredictability of my work schedule. In my line of work (tour/charter bus driver), my schedule changes on a daily basis...sometimes, in the middle of the work day. Some days I'll work 3 hours, and other days I'll work 16 hours. On days where I have 2 separate runs, sometimes there's 8 hours between, and other times there less than 2 hours between. During super-slow times, I might work 1-2 days in a week...and, at other times, I might be working as many as 21 days straight. While taking a vehicle/boat with me could, potentially, be a possibility, it's not a realistic possibility, as I don't always know where, exactly, I'll be. The second 'problem' is the weather. For most people, summer is when they can get the most runtime in...but, living in Las Vegas, and dealing with several months of non-stop 100+ degree temps, just being outside is problematic. Running any RCs in this heat could cause severe damage, including the possibility of a Lipo fire, and I'm not willing to take that chance. Some people "aren't where they want to be" due to things such as family matters, financial problems and/or circumstances they've chosen to put themselves in, and I respect those reasons. In my case, one (the weather) is completely beyond my control, and the other (job anti-schedule) is one I have incredibly little control over...at least, for now. Hopefully, in the not-to-distant future, as I move up the 'seniority' list, I'll have more control over my job assignments, which, in-turn, will hopefully allow me more time to put into RC. Positive thinking is what I am certain will, at some point, get me "where I want to be" in RC.

While I am happy about where I am at now in the Hobby, I think I haven't yet made my Magnum Opus. Between eventually freeing myself of the nonsensical tedium of traditional off road racing, keeping up with and expanding into drifting, crawling, and the parade of crazy cool stuff coming out every few months these days, I've come a million miles and I think I have a million more left in me. I've gotten better as a wheelman and mechanic and that's great, but by my 40's I think its time to dial back racing on a mostly weekly basis and start a "running collection" of vehicles that run whenever I feel like it and maybe occasionally returning to the track.

For those who don't have a 3d printer. You can easily obtain a tube bender from your local auto parts store. Typically used for brake lines and fuel lines. If they don't have one check ... Summit racing.
@brianellison35252 ай бұрын
One of the issues with brakeline benders is the radius of the bend is pretty large. Not very scale in comparison to a full size buggy. If you use a brakeline bender there id a good probability the parts wont fit the jig. I had to build my own bender to get the radiuses I wanted for my truggy.
@NBC_NCO2 ай бұрын
@brianellison3525 You can fill the tube with "play sand" and bend it by hand over a radius as well.
@brianellison35252 ай бұрын
@@NBC_NCO I've been a steel fabricator gor about 40 years. I know a bunch of different methods. Sand is ok, but your going to want a pretty fine grain to pack in tight in a brakeline. But stacking a few washers and bolting them together with a swing arm that slides over it is pretty easy to put together. I didn't use any 3D printer for mine.
