Something to add to Gwen’s theme is it has a distinct “high society” vibe which makes sense as Gwen is essentially Isolde’s little princess doll, her fantasy idea of being a princess. Who could’ve guessed that young seamstress would actually become queen?

It's almost like Gwen's part is her moving forward with Isolde's memory and part of her soul and Viego is stuck in the past, trying to reverse everything that happened for his lost lover

at 7:04, I believe that guitar bit is inspired by Spanish classical guitar music. Camavor (Viego's homeland) is heavily inspired by Spain, and both Isolde and Viego have somewhat Spanish accents. thought it was an interesting real world connection.

I'm glad you're taking a look at Isolde's tragedy, and connecting the themes from both songs! The tale of "The Ruined King" is a classic not just in League of Legends, but also the in-game world of Runeterra! Something that made the event and music so amazing is that - like most of Runeterra - the players had assumed that it was a tale already completed, until Viego rose from the Shadow Isles once more. To me, the use of a classical orchestra not only displays the heavy emotion in the characters, but also the concept of how old the story is

To me the difference between Isolde’s voice in both themes is the fact that Isolde’s voice in Gwen’s theme is loud and at the forefront, because Gwen is living in the memory of Isolde and mirrors her happy joyous personality, whereas Virgo’s theme is an angry sad recreation of Isolde’s voice, with her voice faded and quiet in the background. Viego is desperately trying to remember Isolde and find her voice again but the more he uses anger and despair the more her voice fades and the more it becomes his theme.

Something I've always liked about Viego's theme it references a song Riot released back in 2017 for their alternate-universe band Pentakill called Blade of the Ruined King, and then 4 years later we finally got to meet the Ruined King himself. I love it when creators tie in bits of their other songs together, and I can't help but be curious whether the Pentakill melody came first, or if they've been sitting on that melody for a long time and waiting to use it.

A theorie I really like, is that Gwen might be Viego and Isolde unborn child. And actually it's not a part of Isolde soul that got into the doll but the soul of their daughter. And the tragedy/real meaning of this story is Viego not acknowledging that he would've have a daughter, because he's blinded by his love for Isolde. It's not proven but I like it as a theory, as it makes Gwen's highlight video title "made with love" way more consequent. Would like your thoughts on it.

@@MarcoMeatball well after reading the lore again this theory actually doesn't really work although I think it's quite a missed opportunity from Riot there. I suspect they might have tough on doing it, but decided not to for whatever reason. Anyway the way they handled this whole Ruination event was not appreciated by the community at all, and I prefer to make this interpretation of the unborn child although it's not correct.

Isolde singing to me sounds like her trying to comfort Gwen but also an apology for not being there with her. and when the music rises with her singing, it makes me think its Isolde saying “go on. fight the black mist. i wasnt there for you before but ill be right beside you now.” its Isolde guiding Gwen as she explores the world and helping her fight back the black mist

Gwen's theme from about 20 secs felt inhuman. Also, composer should be able to mix the two pieces into one, one voice would be Viego, the other Gwen, using elements representing Isolde to bind them together? It would be very fascinating to listen to.

To me, I take from this that Isolde's voice, or rather the placement of it in the instrumentation, is important to thee outlooks of both characters. Theey both "hear" Isolde's voice, but in Viego's theme he can barely hear her. His rage and inner turmoil block out her singing, he's not listening to what she wants, which is to be let go, so she can pass on. Whereas in Gwen's theme her voice in the forefront. Gwen is listening to what Isolde wanted for her, to be remembered fondly, but moreover for Gwen to experience life without the memory of her creator to drag her down.

But yeah it reflects to the somber feeling when Gwen was made, Isolde created with Gwen Love and Love can be contagious, passed on, For me The Guitar part resembles Viego's Love. His father. To me, Viego's theme sounds so broken, showing how much he degrated as a person since Isolde died. In contrast, Gwen's theme feels complete. Like Gwen is finally completed and will do anything to protect her newfound life and freedom. Yet they are both connected by Isolde's death. Feckin beautiful Edit: in a way, Viego's theme feels more suited for a broken doll than Gwen's.

In a way Viego did create Gwen. Even though Isolde made her she was never truly alive, what brought her back was a piece of Isolde's soul but also the black mist of Viego which brought back that which was dead.

Honestly there’s some use of stereotyping and general aesthetics to help tell the story. Gwen’s theme and British accent accentuate her persona as this lost princess essentially, and Viego’s Latin accent (Spanish? Portugal? Idk) of course to many people evokes the image of someone who loves passionately

I feel as if the difference with the music is that Gwen's music is moving forward and fixing what has gone wrong if I'm not mistaken Gwen holds part of Isolde's soul which may be why she feels so strongly about stopping Viego and the mist. Viego's track however feels as if he's moving backwards instead of forwards like Isolde would have wanted and would tear the world down instead of facing the truth.

Ironically while Viego is definitely not a positive character, he is written as the softest. His character is not bad; it's just a story told by the "other side." Most people ignore it, but this is mainly related to the motto of "victors write history." Just food for thought.

I love when Riot manages to fit in the lore connection of 2 champions into eachother's themes, I believe this is not the only case of this happening, the other case i can think of is Camille and Renata Glasc's themes
