Duke makes even the simplest things sound SO elegant. Inspiring.

Note that when the interviewer bends a string he doesn't seem to have a clear target note. That's a common issue. When Duke bends he knows if the destination is half or whole step away, he's aware of what notes he's playing on each end of the bend, and nails the intonation at each end of the bend. When the bend ascends the bend generally ends on a chord tone. When a bend descends, it's released to a chord tone. Playing cleanly with accurate intonation and good time and phrasing is essential.

Wish you fellows had the opposite seats, so we could see Duke's hands.

I'm a bass player but I play a little bit of guitar as well.I just bought myself a Tele. I suppose I'm going to have to get a little bit of that twang under my fingers. This clip is a good start. Thank you

I played my first gig ever opening for Duke's band "Landslide" in July 1976 outside at Green Hill Park in MA. I learned to play on the bass and had been playing for 3 months, it was the summer of my life I was 16 years old,Frampton comes alive had just come out and I also crossed the threshold into manhood that night if you know what I mean! I was loving life, I guess musicians do get the chicks for free! What a day. To this day I still play with some of the guys I learned with in that band. It was the summer of my life!

@@twangbarfly Yesiree....I still have pictures of that gig somewhere. Me and the guitarplayer had big afro's as was the style of the day A LA Grand Funk Railroad. We still jam every now and then.
