I'm not Catholic, but I really appreciate this podcast. The fact that you've got Victor Sweeney (the most popular mortician on the planet) on the episode brings this to the next level. So sorry for your tremendous loss, Victor 😥

This is so wonderful! First time I find priests willing to talk about the dead, visitations, signs of it etc. Can't tell you how many experiences I've had with love ones after their passings or people that have shared these experiences with me. Great show!!

I love me some Victor Sweeney, such a great dude. His videos are gold and he is such a great narrator. Seems like a really interesting man. I don't believe in coincidences either Victor, everything happens for a reason. I think smell invokes the most memories so interesting.

My biggest fear is death, and when I die, the lights just go out for lack of a better term.. The thought of nothingness is so scary. That being said, others I know have seen things that can't be explained, I've even experienced things I can't explain other than there is something beyond here.

Technically we get 7 days for the dead - or the whole month of November! As a "trad", I'm quite a fan of the Triduum of Death. I love how amused Fr. Pine looks every time something clearly ludicrous comes up 😅🤣 On an unrelated note, is Fr Pine able to take anyone under his wing for spiritual directing...asking for no reason in particular... 😅

The interviewers need to learn to cut off their questions. They ask a question, the guest starts to answer, but the interviewer continues to explain their question. Just let him answer. He starts to answer but you cut him off by continuing your question so he stops answering. At least 4 or 5 times this happens in this interview
@bigdaddycooldiesel6792 Жыл бұрын
Like at 29:37 the guy asks his question and the guest is ready to answer at 29:39 but the interviewer continues talking until 29:51. Ask the question and let him answer.

Lots and lots of people do it. They don’t like dead air and they prefer to answer their own question in how they ask it. It’s something those who do it need to do introspection on and work on it.

And dude on top left looks like he’s texting rather than listening to the guest talking about a best friend’s suicide. Very rude.

My mom's brother was killed when he was 18 in 1986. It tore her up. But she told me she could smell his foot odor, apparently he had athletes foot, after he died. Not a nice as the grandma's perfume like in this video haha But still interesting.

The Church used to not even allow a suicide to be buried in a Catholic cemetery because they died in despair.

Yes and we have expanded on our knowledge since then. We trust God has handled those souls with justice as He does all souls.
@victorm.sweeney88282 жыл бұрын
While true, we should also be careful not to fall into the opposite trap of presuming that God doesn’t demand Justice from those who callously throw their lives away. We trust that God is both perfectly merciful and perfectly just: it isn’t generally for us to know a soul’s location this side of eternity.

@@victorm.sweeney8828I know God would be hurt to know His child was in so much pain that they had taken their own life, but to say "callously throwing your life away" is shameful and judgemental language that only makes those hurting feel ostrachised, ashamed, and judged for their feelings instead of uplifting them into seeking the help they need. It makes those hurting hide their pain out of fear of being judged by everyone but the One who matters. This is ultimately a conversation between God and His child. And the God I know is all forgiving, and has a plan for all of His children. I would be uncomfortable with your abilities to give victim of suicide's family a comfortable, and therapeutic funeral. I will pray for you Victor that you will be more understanding of those struggling with mental health, and spread God's message in an uplifting and less judgemental manner. James 4:12 "There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you - who are you to judge your neighbor?"
@victorm.sweeney8828 Жыл бұрын
@EJSjjh Hi! I think if you listened to the podcast and read my response, you might have a different view. Maybe the one word hung you up, and that’s okay, too. I do feel like you’re judging me pretty hard while imploring me not to judge. My previous comment actually makes this distinction about neither assuming God’s Justice NOR his Mercy, but letting Him decide. The best course for any soul is a healthy agnosticism, remembering to pray for those that have taken their lives. Judgement is moot however we prefer to couch our language. I have handled two suicides since this video was released: I think you’d be hard pressed to find any complaints. Do take care. I wish you well.
@carolynkimberly4021 Жыл бұрын
@@EJSjjh There are many who "callously throw their lives away", some deliberately in front of their children or spouses. Suicide is self murder and is a grave offense against God. I wonder how many of these adults are actually suffering from chronic mental illness.
