For anyone looking for a 2os Wand for White, use a level 17 character. Any suitable bone wands with 18 level skills will be red/unusable at Drognan.

you should note, vendor inventories won't reset when you leave town if another player is/stays in town in the same act.

Also for some reason they will not reset if you use a waypoint to go to another town and back! For example Lut Gholein -> Rogue Encampment - > Lut Gholein. It has to be any other waypoint for it to reset all vendor wares. 😊

I just yesterday learned that only hard points on ur synergies affect ur main skill. Equipped wand that gives +skills that synergies with bone spear and realized that this wand didnt increase my bone spear dmg at all lol. So embrassing hahaha.

also for some armors like archon plate if you get a low quality drop you can up it to norm in cube and it'll always get 3 sockets (at larzuk) because it becomes ilvl 1. some other stuff works for this too

Thank you for this video. I’m a casual player that took a long break from D2LOD. I looked at guides but did my own thing. Now Im back playing D2R on console. After hours of playing the game, I came to the same conclusion that you did about shopping for runeword bases. Oh, I did find a 2os Splint Armor in Act 3 that I used to make a Stealth runeword. After that, I didn’t find any runeword bases going forward into the later Acts. If I watched your video earlier, it would have saved me time. Subbed! 👍

As an alternative to flails which have both strength and dexterity requirements you can also give a fresh character a three socket Wirt’s leg, which has no requirements. You cannot make rune words with it but you can put 3x chipped/perfect emeralds or amethysts or Tirs for example.

I think it should be noted that you should also look for them while having the highest players' number your character can handle without dying all the time or have a very slow clear speed. The higher the players' number->more items drop->better chance to drop a good base. You also get significantly more experience. Also drop chances only change in odd players' number like 1, 3, 5, 7. 4 is the same as 3, 6 is like 5 etc. Only the experience changes and the mosters being somewhat harder to kill

Here is a pro tip for you: The best way to find elite runeword bases is by farming the chaos sanctuary with 0% magic find. This way you get far less magic items and you'll be pulling in tons of quality bases at the fastest possible speed.

@@DecoyAUT Yes. When weapons and armor drop the game uses you magic find to calculate if the items become blue. Then the game rolls again to see if they become yellow. Then they roll again to see if they become set or unique. So by having 0% magic find you can prevent all this from happening. So let's say you're hunting for an elite sword and you find a bad unique version, with 0% magic find that would have been a white item, which could have had sockets and/or quality.

My pleb noob advice, try wearing runewords. If nm, then you must be in the 30s range. Those runewords are very good and relatively easy. If you can farm nm countess, then even more so. Edit: spirit sword for self, insight for merc, I guess?

​@@pablolankenau Lore (Ort Sol helm) should be good, Peace (Shael Thul Amn armor), maybe even Stealth works (Tal Eth armor), Ancients Pledge (Ral Ort Tal shield) or Rhyme (Shael Eth shield). To improve resistances, find amulets, rings, belts, gloves and boots with +20 or +30 resist, or multiple resistances if possible. depending on your character, there are other things that matter, like a good Leaf (Tir Ral staff) for Fire Sorceress, Fire Druid or Fire Traps Assassin. Insight (Ral Tir Tal Sol polearm/missile weapon/staff) is caster support with Meditation aura. White (Dol Io wand) for a Bone Necro. Strenght (Amn Tir melee weapon) Zephyr (Ort Eth missile weapon) is good for a Bowazon. Edge (Tir Tal Amn missile weapons) is a nice bow, very good if you play a Zoo Druid, or a Summon Necro. Smoke (Nef Lum armor) is very good for resistances, but you need some luck for that Lum rune. Pattern (Tal Ort Thul katars) is a new runeword for D2R, quite good for Assassins that like the Martials Arts, or even for Blade Traps. Harmony (Tir Ith Sol Ko missile weapons) is very good for Bowazon, but a bit harder to find that Ko rune. Spirit (Tal Thul Ort Amn swords/shields) is also pretty easy, and has +2 to skills. Holy Thunder (Eth Ral Ort Tal scepter) very good for Paladin. of course these are not the only ones, but most of them.

A bit nitpicking: Not the act or difficulty decides decides whether you can buy nonmagical gear in ths shops., but the character level. The higher the character level, the less nonmagical gear is available. The thing with normal act 1 and 2 vendors is that the ilvl (which is character level + 4 or +5) of their items are capped at rather low values (12 in normal act 1and 18 in act 2 IIRC) and the chance of something being nonmagical is based on that, so you can get nonmagical gear there with higher level characters as well. However, if you have rushed a low-level character through all of the game (like for getting additional Larzuk and Hellforge rewards), you can shop nonmagical gear with them in later acts and higher difficulties as well. When resetting shop inventories, you have to switch to a different area in the same act. If you go to a different act (or into town in a different act, I'm not sure), the inventory won't reset.

My question is, how do you transition from early to mid game into late game if you never find any the better runes or have the materials to make the runeword? The whole sharing loots with other people kind of sucks sometime because you're basically fighting for drops. I feel like some people are running auto loots scripts because items are gone before they even hit the ground. And running solo in hell is tough without a good gear set.

I think an advanced shopping video would be great. My friends and I used to play hardcore with the following rule - you can only use magic items. This led to us really deep diving into the shopping mechanics so we could get our +2 skill 20 ias gloves, or light sentry claws, and actually survive in Hell lol. Yes they do, you can make spirit in any Paladin shield. You can also make any helmet runeword in circlets. /players 8 doesnt work in online for d2r; but if it did, it would affect all monsters and drops (chests)

I've never even considered runewords much, even in the original, but having looked at some builds lately, I'm definitely going to start trying to put some things together. My big question though is given that you have said you can shop for socketed gear only in Acts 1 and 2 Normal, are you basically at the mercy of RNG-sus for higher level weapons? For example, I'm running a Werewolf Druid, currently level 8 on Act 1 Normal and I have the runes for Steel but I don't really want to waste it if I can end up putting it into something better later on. Or given that it is only Normal difficulty, should I wait until around Nightmare before I start using runewords at all?

Make It as soon as you can. You will come across more low level runes all the time. The point if low level runewords is to have them as soon as possible to make things easier for you.

Something I can't explain happened to me: I bought a two open socket helm off of nightmare Charsi (If I understand this video correctly, that shouldn't be possible) and put ort sol in it to make a lore. However it didn't work and now a have a bricked helm. The helm was NOT magic or anything, just two open sockets.

In D2R you can kill everything in the cow level. As soon as you save and quit, you can run back to Tristram and get Wirt's Leg as soon as you don't have one.

Can you use Superior quality bases? I found a 3socket bow with Superior on it that still has grey text, but gives me some amazon skill bonuses. Im slightly paranoid to put the Amn rune in there since those are a pain in the ass for me to get atm.

I'm a lvl 72 sorc, no helm and I have Ort/Sol should I make Lore Helm or should I keep Sol run for something like Insight for merc?

at that level you dont really need either. i would make a lore then go kill meph until i had all the basic late game gear. you dont need a merc at all for this strategy. search for videos on how to kill meph safely and quickly.

3 weeks late but Llama is missing out on an important seller! Gheed. Act 1. Normal. 3 socket shield. You can have ancients pledge if you've got a Character through normal already. My druid had ancients pledge very early in act 1 normal. All the way through nightmare. I'm getting completely whooped out the gate of the rogue encampment in hell tho. So Llama... SAVE ME!!

If I was making a leaf staff, would I want the base to have + fire bolt? For example if the base was +3 fire bolt and then I make it into leave, will it be +6 fire bolt?

Yeah it would add on. The runeword itself is good enough for leveling, that +3 mod would be nice yes. But it won't make a Huge difference. You'll still pwn
