I remember this well when I was twenty seven. The tune is in G major and the four part harmony impressive (though our Cymric neighbours excel at it). I love heart on sleeve music indeed. Diana's demise was tragic!

She was the Queen of our hearts. Dearly loved in all the world. Not just in America but the world had so much hope for her and Prince Charles to be happy but it wasn't to be. She was a real fairytale princess to many people that didn't understand the titles. I am an American. I cringe when I hear princess Meghan. She's not and never will be. Nor will she be loved like Lady Diana even though she imitates everything about her.

Just before the last verse the organist seems to be overcome with emotion. There is a sort of pause. It sums up the atmosphere of the day.
@JohnKing-ig3df3 жыл бұрын
Did you see that? Obviously you aren't familiar with Anglican/Episcopal services. There is always a pause.

Well after all that grief and sorrow and pain anything is possible.Strong organist .I couldnt do it.Anglican tradition or not lol.

@@leonietaylor7054 I can play violin and viola but not the organ. This was a solemn occasion and I am a sensitive person who wears heart on sleeve, so I would have been overcome and unable to concentrate on musical endeavour. (I was twenty seven at the time).

@@JohnKing-ig3df Did the poster not mean that the pause between verses 2 and 3 was much longer than the earlier pause between verses 1 and 2? I have sung in Anglican churches since boyhood and the pauses are normally the same length. There may be a special practical reason for a longer pause e.g. the organist might have a greater number of registration (stop) changes between those two verses or perhaps he was turning a page and it got stuck?
@stephaniespragg5586 Жыл бұрын
@@keithbulley2587the pause you are on about (in between verses 2 and 3) was noticeably longer. This is the pause the OP is talking about, he suspects being overcome with emotion in the circumstances as why

Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah Pilgrim through this barren land I am weak, but Thou art mighty Hold me with Thy powerful hands Bread of heaven, feed me now and evermore Open now the crystal fountain Whence the healing waters flow Let the fiery, cloudy pillar Lead me all my journey through Strong Deliverer, be Thou still my Strength and Shield When I tread the verge of Jordan Bid my anxious fears subside Death of death, and hell's destruction Land me safe on Canaan's side Songs of praises, I will ever give to Thee

The 🤘 😈 problem is trust. Now that my eyes 👀 are open to the Real Politik and the ways of the world and duty and responsibility, and credibility, and accountability, and liability of being an adult are high priorities, I wish to exercise a higher standard of ❤ care as never before against🤘 The Evil 😈 one who is also seated in churches, watching for the vulnerable. I see myself going over the same territory again, trying to get back to a time of perfection which no longer exists, everybody has outgrow it, everybody has moved on with their lives. And I am still trying to live by ideals, and privileges which form the gap between respectability and between classes of people, and between belonging and alienation. I haven't found a sense of perfect order and balance yet. I doubt that I ever shall find it again. One thinks of the "road not taken", and what could have been, and what should have been. I am not thinking about Jesus death burial and Resurrection today as I should be. I am thinking of how much I miss the bliss of ignorance. How happily and merrily I skipped along the road of life, gathering 💐 bouquets flowers in my arms. And then the sudden, unexpected fall from grace, and light down to darkness, and the tremendous and exhausting struggle and effort, and the joblessness, and inertia, of life at this present level where I am, in this environment, in this urban ghetto. I just feel like sitting right here on this lumpy sofa, until Monday when it is time to work again. I don't feel like having fun, because there is always a price. The price I pay to get to church ⛪ 🙏 and back through the ghetto just isn't worth it anymore. I've seen too much of the grimy, troubled urban ghetto now, and all I want to do is avoid it. Sincerely, gospelgirl.
