What an incredible guide. Thanks for that. It is still somewhat relevant today, but I would love to see a series like that each year (as Onyx is pumping out new devices twice a year). Would also love to hear community feedback (reliability, issues, customer support) and rumors for devices in each category.

If someone is considering the Max Lumi2, just adding a screen protector over what’s there removes the smudges and reflectivity. The screen protector does not negatively affect the writing experience. I went from a Lumi 1 to a Lumi 2 and I don’t regret it because it is faster and sharper than Lumi 1. All you need is a screen protector and a case with a pen holder.
@betwixtandbetweentechnolog59172 жыл бұрын
Agree with that. I've also purchased Lumi 2 and applied paper-like screen protector, and now there is no problem with reflectivity and smudges at all. Voja himself said in part 2 of max lumi 2 series that a good paper-like screen protector would solve those two problems, its strange that he didn't mention it in this video.

Love the video, And I was wondering if I should invest in the new poke 5. Been wanting a great portable eReader. At times I want to use a device that can use a pen but the bigger it is, the less likely I feel like I’ll travel with it. Idk… please help. All the larger devices cost a lot and while I might be able to get one of the note taking ones I would love an all around device that is small and compact. Please help Thank you

I would really like some advice on what would be the best device for me. I'm a maths teacher and would like a device that: I can take notes with; Import/download pdf documents to make notes/annotations on, and be able to save it for future reference; Also import/download maths exam papers, usually as pdfs, that I can make notes on, write full detailed solutions on to and save. Then be able to export/share that document with all my writing on. Possibly with ability to be able to use different coloured pens. Would also like to be able to cut/copy and paste any notes I make. Preferably on a minimum of a 10.3' screen, however, if there's a device that would ideal and is only 7.8', then so be it. Many thanks in advance

Sorry, but I don't do individual recommendations. I try to cover as many devices as possible, and provide as much resources as possible for people to find information when doing their own research. From time to time, I can also provide advice if someone is on the fence between 1 or 2 devices, but general recommendation like the one you are asking for is not something I do, and it's something that has to be each individual's responsibility, because ultimately, only you can know which devices will be best suited to your own individual needs.

Have you heard about the differences between the Chinese and Russian booxs? Apparently some 3rd party sellers in the us source their boox products from Russia which unfortunately means they can't get updates like the Chinese ones do
@MyDeepGuide2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that was my experience as well. When I purchased the Poke 2 Color, even though it wasn't mentioned anywhere, I received a Russian version which has never, to this day, received a single update. But normally it is hard to find such versions, so if there is a reseller doing that, that's a bit iffy.

Hi Voja, maybe You could cover sizes difference. Ofcourse, You did speak about it a lot. But people who don't have all this devices at hand maybe have difficulty imagining what this sizes really look like and compare to one another. So maybe You could put 6", 7.8", 10.3" and 13.3" devices side by side so people could get feel what the size difference really looks like and how different things function on different sized devices. I think this would be really helpful finding a right size device. Thank You
@vinoto2 жыл бұрын
He doesn't own everything to do that. Sometimes he is loaned a device from the company for review purpose only. Best way to determine size for you is to look at a few in the store even its a different brand
@andieluke1366 Жыл бұрын
7.8" is essentialy A6, whereas 10.3" is A5, and 13.3" is A4. This is in relation to the *SCREEN* size, not the overall device itself. That said, it should give you an inkling of the size (A4 folded in half is A5, which in turn folded in half makes A6). Hope this helps!

I wonder what the pricing for a 10.3 inch color e-ink device will end up being. If it's much more expensive (say, more than 650-700) I wouldn't have to wait around for the release, I'd be fine with being a bit more economic and just going for the Air 2.

Please advise me on a non-note taking ereader for primarily reading PDFs? Note taking feature is wasted on me and as such do NOT want to spend on the same. Are there any large e-ink readers without note taking ability and good PDF rendering?
@MyDeepGuide2 жыл бұрын
Not really, and I don't know what you mean by "large". You do have Kobo Sage, but it has bad battery life, Kobo Elipsa, but it has only 1 color frontlight, and there is the InkPad X, but software on that device is hopeless. So no, not really any that I can recommend as an all rounder good eReader only, of a larger format.

Hello, thanks for an informative video. I am thinking of buying note air soon. what are your thoughts on buying an android 10 device when android 11 is available in note air 2? Note air is currently offered on discount at good price so seems like a good option.
@MyDeepGuide2 жыл бұрын
Generally speaking, if I didn't already have a Note Air 1, I would have purchased the Note Air 2. If you have waited and saved up for Note Air 1, wait a bit more to catch the Note Air 2 when it's a good deal, or to save up for it, as it's an overall better device and I would always recommend it over the Note Air 1. The price difference is worth it.

I bought nova 2, and when I received it - I got the knowledge (too late). For me - male, 190cm and pretty big hands 7.8" reader is a miss in every way. Once again for me 7.8" is too small for note taking and too big for casual one hand reading. If you're going for note taking - size should be a4 210x297mm (13.3" diagonal), on the other hand - for reading just choose 6" reader.

Hi! Thank you for alot of informative videos! Im chosing my first E-ink reader. The most important for me its the ability of making highlights and making annotations. I cant find information about how can I save all the highlights and annotations in the file of the book (epub, FB2 and other formats) and share it to other devices with the saved highlights and annotations. On what devices I will have this functions? Thinking about the poke 3 or the poke 4. What can you say about this devices? Thank you very much!!!

You need to export the document as a new PDF to actually embed the highlights and annotations. You can find the export option in the scribble toolbar of the NeoReader.

What’s funny was wanted the remarkable but with their paid service structure and other issues, (extremely costly pen and folio) switched focus between the supernote and Boox, was gonna get the boox nova air but the US site for their products unlike their default/UK site is awful, doesn’t have any of the description what so ever, doesn’t even say what it comes with. Because of that thought the booxs products doesn’t come with a pen (it does) like both supernote and remarkable don’t. All pens minus the 80 buck one were out of stock, so ended up going back on the supernote site and ended up buying that. Booxs should fix/improve their US site asap

Update: saw they scraped the US site with little info on items and merged it with the UK/HK site, old one has a message and redirects too the proper one.

I'm wondering, as most Boox devices have the latest firmware, then they would have a v.similar writing experience? So buying a used boox note 2 for example would be at least half the cost of a new air 2 plus. The hardware is fairly similar too. Any thoughts please? 💡
@MyDeepGuide2 жыл бұрын
I understand the logic, but the writing latency is not improved along with firmware updates. So, my Note Air 1 doesn't write as fast as the Note Air 2 or the Note Air 2+ even though all 3 devices run the same version of the Firmware.
